Mine is and will always be Fahn Cooper. I don't know if Ole Miss asked more of any other player during our 2014-15 Sugar Bowl run than that guy. They wouldn't let Laremy dress out for 6 or 7 games and he slid from RT to LT and never once complained. Put together an almost All Conference performance the first half of the season. When Laremy came back, he slid right over to the other bookend. Had Fahn gotten injured in game 2 or 3 we're much more likely to play in the Liberty Bowl than the Sugar Bowl even with the NFL talent on that roster. On top of all that, Fahn was a Juco guy before the days of NIL. Pretty much the fricking Wild West when it came to getting that signature on the dotted line in February. We missed out on Avery Gennesey (aTm bought him last minute) and Austin Golson transferred cause he missed his grandma and liked getting VIP treatment at Auburn BCS Bowl games. Fahn was our last resort at Tackle. The definition of a Plan B guy but he whipped Dlinemen's asses in practice and in games all the freakin time.

That's not sour grapes against aTm on Avery. That was the nature of Juco recruiting back then. It is 100% sour grapes against Golson. Pussy MFer

Been beating all the neighborhood kids' asses at the new college football game on XBox with Ole Miss and really ready for this season to start. Hence the preseason thread.

ETA
DMagic actually pointed out that we also had JUCO OT Kareem Are committed for a couple weeks in January and we got beat out (outbid) by FSU at the end. So Technically Fahn was a Plan C guy. Makes me fricking love him more.

Buford McGee. 1979.

I was 8 years old. Sitting in a dove field in the Delta with my dad. Listening to us play Memphis on his little transistor radio. I guess it was opening weekend? Sometime in Sept. Hot.

Right before kickoff my dad said we had a freshman running back who was supposed to be really good. If I remember corrrectly, he took his first ever college touch for 60 yards and a score. And then had maybe another long run for a score and ended up with something like 180 yards rushing.

Which was important because we won the game by like 3 points. Maybe 38-35 or something like that.

Evan Engram is mine

His story is so great.... from nobody really wanting him out of high school and Freeze takes a chance on this kid who had been passed over like the DVD clearance bin at Walmart

He goes on to be great and eventually a well deserved All American

I always have a thing for the underdog.. and they can come from out of nowhere and make the biggest impact...sometimes all it takes is for someone to give you a chance.

When I was younger, I was a huge fan of Tom Luke at QB.

Mike Marry. Greyshirted when he didn’t have to do it and became the only MLB we could use for four years. Sat beside me for a couple of games after he left and is legitimately funny too.

DT Shackelford and Joel Kight

Mike Hilton is another that was undersized and not many people were aware of. But dude busted his arse and forced himself on the field when he was here and is still playing in the league

Dayton Wade. Best interviews and scrappy little dude who played a lot bigger than he was.

Pat Patterson and Chris Strong. I was really pulling for both. I thought Patterson would be one of the best.

Prewitt was the man but the first thing I think of when he is brought up is one of our male cheerleaders cold clocking him in the face on the square one night

Corey Peterson, WR. He was a probation recruit from Germantown. Recruited by Brewer I believe played for TT. Caught the infamous 2pt conversion.

Tim Ellis. 1977 I was 9 years old. I came in from playing and my dad was listening to the Notre Dame game. I started listening with him for the first time as Ellis came off the bench and led us to the win. Been an Ole Miss Rebel every since.
Honorable mention to Taylor Polk. Not the most gifted LB and way undersized, but you got every last thing he had. By the last few games of his senior season he was playing some good ball

Wesley Walls. Played high school baseball against him and he was a beast. Hit 17 bombs and was intentionally walked 45 times from the lead off spot at 6’5” 245 lbs his senior year. Played tight end and defensive end for the Rebels. He was a stud

I was talking to someone about Cody Prewitt the other day. That guy was on the field every freaking play on defense. Imagine him with playing with the S depth of Key Lawrence, Trey Washington , John Saunders and Yam. Cody could actually catch a breather on 3rd down pass coverage every now and then.
