I'm thinking of taking Amtrak to Boston this fall. Maybe getting a stateroom for two. But it's a 26 hour trip.

My inlaws did something similar last year just for fun because they are retired. They regretted it. The stateroom isn't like what you are thinking of. And more expensive than air travel.

I realize it is a very small room. But it has a shower and includes meals and we'll spend our time in the observation car. My Sweetheart is terrified of flying.

Commercial air travel has a better record over the last 20 years than trains. Just sayin

No doubt. But I know some ppl who refuse to board a plane. Once the fear gets to a certain level, tough to overcome.

I say go for it op!

I’d rather drive over two days than be crammed in a 26 hr train ride.

I rode Amtrak once, and that was about 25 years ago, and the main thing I remember is that they kept it cold as shite in the train cars at night on purpose. One of the railroad stewardesses was going around selling blankets.

So probably take a big arse blanket.

We would board the train in Anniston, Al. Change trains in Washington, DC. Stops in many small towns along the way.

American Train Travel is shite. Amtrak ain't bad in the NE, but it's garbage everywhere else.

It's a good way to travel between Boston, NY, Philly, DC. Outside of that I'd skip it
