Explains all the Big 12 talk as of late. You can’t throw a tantrum like a child at your boss and expect a bigger/better company come and take you after witnessing it

The "disruptive partner" thing is meaningless.

But the "financial sense" thing means a lot. Both FSU and Clemson have the belief they have value. But the reality is the SEC added OU and Texas and didn't get any additional money per team. ESPN bumped up the total payout to keep the amount per team the same, but did not do an increase and wasn't willing to trade adding a 9th conference game each year for more money.

Given that, FSU and Clemson would not be able to do better and adding them might mean less money per team in the SEC.

I just can't see it happening. Maybe when the SEC TV contract ends in the earl 2030's, but not before then.

I dunno… being a disruptive partner didn’t stop us from inviting Texas.

For the time being... the SEC and in turn OU and Uterus' gamble was the next round of tv deals will be much higher....

Obvioulsy OU and Uterus jumped of a sinking ship.

B12 has 16 mid-tier mouths to feed now. How is transferring to a conference their best teams just left over the ACC? I would stay in the ACC and try to negotiate a better slice of the pie.

Leaving the ACC for the Big 12 seems like a pointless endeavor. I'd even say the ACC is a stronger conference than the Big 12 that just lost their only 2 marquee programs.

Personally, I'd like to see FSU in the SEC, but realize there's multiple factors.

Flying back and forth from the east coast to join an equivalent conference sounds retarded.

Outside of Clemson and FSU how is the ACC better? Big12 has had actual playoff contenders over the years. I can’t remember the last time a ACC team was relevant outside of those 2

I’m happy to see this on the SEC’s side. We don’t need more teams.

Wonder if there’s a world where A&M and Mizzou jump to the big XII with Clemson and FSU.

Nothing would surprise me anymore in this realignment.

Fsu is like me lol

Honestly the new big 12 is the way to go
Fsu will be in the playoffs every year they’ll win it most years
Really cool road games
Arizona state , tcu , Colorado

If big 12 takes fsu , Clemson , Virginia tech and Miami they’ll get a nice tv deal

He did ask “outside of FSU and Clemson”

Only 1 of those 4 were outside of them 2, by a Miami program that hasn’t done much since 2002 (although they are going to drop 45 on the gators in the swamp in a few weeks)

That conference on the west coast would be a perfect fit.
,It could be called the AP conference. (Atlantic to the Pacific)

From sea to shining sea?

You're right on the money.

In fact, adding OU and Texas was a panic move by Sankey, fearing that they might go to the Big Ten. Certainly, if one had been looking to expand, they would have been the prize choices for the SEC, but there was no need to expand at that time. We gained nothing financially from it. If Sankey had held his nerve, we probably could have seen a relatively stable environment until the 2030s. Now, all hell might have broken loose at that time, but we'll never know because Sankey got bluffed (Texas wasn't going to the Big Ten so long as ESPN owned their 3rd tier rights).

Absolutely not. No one is leaving the SEC. Mizzou athletics is humming in a way I've never seen in my 43 years... at least, in terms of financial support and momentum.

IMO, the only way the SEC expands is by offering UVA and UNC... It gets them into markets where they don't have schools. I know that's not as valuable as it was 12 years ago; however, those are two top-notch institutions that would also help inventory.
