If your team isn't in the top 10, it isn't trying hard enough. Many stat purists feel that national championships or total wins are inconsequential and look for a winning percentage to determine the overall worth of a team over large periods of time.

Check in here if the team you support is a high quality team.

Texas by far is the weakest of the 10 listed there. Least amount of national championships except Boise State but is still take them if they played today.

Boise State always squeaks in even though they have only played around half as many games as the real stalwarts of college football. I don't like it but, it is what it is.

At least they can be eliminated by listing the teams by total wins.

Does not remotely jive with your OP.

Texas doesn’t have the least amount of national titles on this list.

Do all the wins and losses go back only to 1936? If not, why should their NCs?

No, but there was no organized method to crowning a national champion until the AP began making selections.

The statistic is meaningless and not indicative of anything related to the present other than the number of t shirts sold.

If you want proof of that all you have to do is realize Nebraska is on this list and ask yourself if it really means anything at all in terms of their success today.

It doesn’t. It means they sell a lot of t shirts. It doesn’t mean they win ballgames.

The AP was an organized beauty contest. The UPI was simply another. If you missed out on being Miss America there was always the Miss USA contest. There was never any era of college football during the "mythical national championship" that was more accurate than another.

Because, neither was any more accurate than their bias allowed them to be. With the media proximity mainly from the North and Northeast in the big cities, the South was badly outnumbered and took it on the chin more times than not. Throw in the Heisman vote as well.

You have a link? Looks like Alabama & only Alabama has vacated wins included in the totals

Tennessee is 10 and Georgia is 11 in win % if you only include teams that have played at least 1000 games

Ironically, it was "eastern" football that whined and cried about lack of respect after the Ivy's deemphasized the game. Penn State cried for 20 or 30 years about how the press and the polls didn't give their program credit.

The southern teams biggest problem with the press is that they rarely if ever played intersectional games during the regular season...

Oklahoma for instance isn't very far away from the south yet for decades never played an SEC team in the regular season. The only SEC team they ever faced during the season was Vandy.

Never let another man do your counting for you. A win earned is a win counted.

This is not only the dumbest list I've ever seen put in a thread on this forum, this might just be the dumbest THREAD I've ever seen started on this forum. My God man, are you serious?

Wow, Oh, gee, look!.... Boise St is on the list and UGA is not. I...can't hold back the tears. (yawn).

We sure are hurting for stuff to talk about until fall practice starts. Please Lord, let it get here soon. SMH
