Anybody have the link for the university in Knoxville handy? That should clear things up.

Hey genius, that just means you’re closer to Texas than Tennessee. I’m in Nashville and first thing that comes up is University of Tennessee.

I’m fine with TN being called UT here as they were SEC first. But, the rest of the world thinks Texas. The only place Google rearranges the search order is in the state of Tennessee, which makes sense.

They weren't first though. The University of Texas was established in 1876. East Tennessee College became Tennessee in 1879.

Well the state of Tennessee is the reason it isn’t Mexico and Mexico A&M.

Not so. Parts of Florida don't show either as #1. Seems both were a little slow on claiming the domain.

It was called for in the revamped Texas constitution of 1876. But U Texas didn't start officially holding classes until 1883.
