Dear Lord! Please NOT the Volunteers (CWS finals)

After that devastating loss to UNC I was hoping we'd see a nice non-SEC team with a nice coach in the CWS finals. Preferably UNC or FSU.
No dice.
So now it's reservedly rooting for the lesser of 2 SEC foe-evils. (Or foe-weevils?)
If you've been in any chats including YouTube live college baseball you've endured tidal waves of bragadaccio that Tennessee fans spurt up for a team that's never won a CWS--it borders between delusional and insane. They love to talk TN's 2022 football win over LSU and their baseball wins over LSU this year and their 1998 football Natty (although they failed for 4 years with Peyton).
Sports shite-talk/trolling between fans is all in good fun (although better in person than on the hostile internet) but these TN fans try to ignore LSU's baseball dominance living rent-free in their checkerboard heads.
All that plus Vitello's salty CWS 2023 post-game exit interview last year--he didn't congratulate LSU or Coach Jay for beating them--I have to root for A&M.
If the Vols win their first-ever baseball Natty it could be nearly as nauseating as Alabama fans rubbing their real (and several imagined) football Nattys and Nick Saban in LSU fans' faces. (Bama's the only team I actually loathe.)
Just a game of course / I'm not invested in the outcome despite this wee rant--and I can't stand the Aggies either but there it is.
Didn't think I'd watch any CWS but most of the games were incredible--I just don't want Tennessee to win it.

If I had to choose based on my TD usage, I'd much rather Tennessee simply because, while their fans and trolls are annoying, there aren't that many as A&M on here.
As for the teams themselves, I think either will be a worthy and deserved champion and both have been fun teams to watch this year.

Also, no one wants to admit nor will they ever admit it, but Vitello must've gotten a good marketing team this year because he has been very chill and likable in his media appearances.
Also pt. 2, no matter who wins, who gives a frick? It's kids playing games. It's fun when your team wins, but I don't see any value in caring so much about the outcome of a game that doesn't involve your team.

yeah both teams are good across the board - TN's comeback against FSU was unreal to watch in real time
don't interact much w/A&M fans so appreciate yr insight that they're worse - i'm sure you're right / i just have had many more observations of TN fans

I can’t decide.
TN is annoying as frick but I love having Aggie being championshipless in just about every major sport

Haven't seen any TN games other than vs LSU and in the CWS but that's good to hear - press conference bits I caught of Vitello the past few seasons were cringe - every coach has a different personality of course but Vitello (and Sully from Florida) aren't must-see TV unless they're your team's coach

Tennessee has been good enough to win it all for the last couple of years, it's time they break through tbh

living in TX, I cannot pull for A&M (except for Nolan Cain) I cannot stand their fans

I’m glad we have Jay Johnson and there is no coach in America I’d want at LSU above him. But if Jay was not available I’d take Vitello in a heartbeat.

I really don’t want to see either of those teams win it but Tenn is the lesser of two evils here. Both fan bases are insufferable but the bubble blowing, chanting, milkmen, gheys would be the worst by far. At least Vitello has started to become a little more likable in the media, plus he has been consistently putting very good teams together.

I hope A&M wins and then Schlossnagle bolts for UT. If that doesn’t happen, I hope Tennessee wins and Vitello bolts for UT afterwards. Either way both fan bases will be in meltdown mode.
