If Georgia wins it will be 5 SEC and 3 ACC in Omaha. If not, 4 SEC, 4 ACC

No conference has sent five teams to Omaha ever. Don't screw this up UGA.

4 and 4 would be cool. With that said, it can't be good for the growth of college baseball to have an all south eastern tournament. Obviously the other teams have to earn it, but maybe we should be pushing the season a month to promote growth from the snow locked schools

Tennessee is the only SEC team on their side of the bracket.

If NC State beats Georgia they will be the only ACC team on their side.

That's not our problem .... it's theirs.

Should they be required to change their hockey season for us?

What about golf season? They seem to do okay with that - and golf us far more negativity affected by snow and cold and wind than is baseball.

When I inserted the conference participation table (among others) into the wiki page, years ago, it was because 4 was unheard of ... and the SEC was doing it.

I never dreamed we might hit 5.

FWIW, if it happens, future selection committees and bracketeers will sabotage the chances of it happening again ... by the SEC. By any conference for that matter. TV will not allow it.

what about California and Arizona baseball? weather not a factor for them...moving the calendar won't help the northern schools...the southern schools just care more about college baseball and that attracts talented players...

We just do baseball better in the South.

That's true, and once the scholly limits rules changed in the mid 70s it was inevitable that SoCal would quit dominating and Southern schools, along with Texas, would begin to advance.

Chicken is correct about the PAC 8, PAC 10, PAC 12 having the same advantages as the Southern programs, if not more because the PAC teams had better weather in terms of drier, fewer storms, etc., during baseball preseason AND regular season.

Also, if you go back 100 years, the Ivy League dominated. GHW Bush was on Yale's championship team if I remember correctly. (It's been awhile since I quit editing and writing for the CWS wiki.)

Individually speaking, there are some great ball players that come out of the midwest and northeast.

Also, to further dispel the weather myth negatively affecting B1G baseball .... when Clemson's current coach was at Maryland, he almost took Maryland .... and when he went to Michigan, he took Michigan to Omaha.

It can be done. It's all about priorities.

I'm up at UofM a couple two or three times a year for various ballgames. Their baseball facilities are first rate.
