re: On this board, Who have been the preferred 1st round picks for the Saints over the years?
Posted by saintlad74 on 2/25/26 at 6:28 am to UncleLester
I was hoping we would have taken a slightly used traffic barrel over Jonathan Sullivan in 2003.
The traffic barrel would have been more helpful on stopping the run.

Man that draft sucked. Didn't like the trade when they first announced it.
Gave up two 1st rd picks to move up , what, 11 spots for one player?
I thought we learned our lesson from Ricky Williams. ??
We would still miss out on Troy Polamalu, but could have had Willis Magahee, Nnamdi Asomugha, and Dallas Clark , among some other good players.

It predates this board, but Eddie George over Alex Molden

That's one of those picks that still haunts me. I remember watching the draft gleefully thinking,
" we are getting Eddie, we are getting Eddie "
Then they announced Molden.
Later I was told, that the look on my face was like someone had just kicked my dog.

Javonte Williams contract is why Love should not be the pick at 8

Agreed, there is no denying Love is a great talent, but I feel we can get a really good RB in 2nd or 3rd.
With our pick, I think we should take DE Bain/Bailey or one of those WRs Tate/Lemon.
If none are available, trade down into teens , get extra picks , and draft CBs McCoy/ Delane , Guard Ioane/Proctor , or TE Sadiq.

The most iconic game in LSU basketball history was a loss.
That's fine, we got back at them in football, with the Blue Grass Miracle.
Way more iconic in sports memory, IMHO

In a league where players like Cam Newton and Matt Ryan get the NFL MVP, the only one that " really " matters to me is
SUPER BOWL MVP
I am willing to bet those players would trade that award for the
Super Bowl MVP.

I am like , meh !!!!!
Normally there is team I hate and I want to lose, but for either one of these teams, I'm just like, meh!!!
The only other Super Bowl I cared less about was the one after the BS. " No Call " game
Anybody else feel the same way ???

This would be a hit to our QB room but good opportunity for him

I feel we can get a good RB in rounds 2-4.
A good DL or Tate with our pick.
If not there, trade down into teens and get more picks

Payton won us a super bowl and gave me 15+ years of great football. Im not rooting against him. Nothing but love for that guy. I dont care how it ended. Now we have moore and shough. We will be there again too

I don't hate Payton, I appreciate everything he's done for this franchise, but that doesn't mean I want another team to benefit from his coaching.
Especially after so many opportunities the Saints had but were getting screwed by Goodell/ Refs
or some freak plays by the opposing teams.

Simply because it will hopefully set back that Bronco defense next season and he takes some of their players with him to his new team.
Don't want to see Payton in another AFC Championship.
Oh yeah because he is good head coach, good for the league, blah, blah, blah

It's all a setup to put ND in preseason top 5.

With their schedule for 2026 , I'm not surprised.
Their one hard game looks to be Miami.

Goodell!! Refs !!
Could have Rams/Patriots Super Bowl rematch.
Ironically a Sean Payton coached team is standing in the way.

It didn't matter at that point. What's the difference between a 25 yard field goal and a 15 yard field goal?

Payton is no longer coaching the Saints, so he is going to get the pass interferences called in his favor.

Well what do you know ?
Payton gets a PI called in his favor.
In the playoffs?
While coaching the Broncos.!!!
huh , imagine that.

So who are you are you pulling for in the National Championship???
Posted by saintlad74 on 1/16/26 at 10:08 am
Originally I was considering Indiana because they've never won a national championship in football.
However, as the week is going by I start seeing comments that this Hoosier team is just as good if not better than the 2019 LSU Tigers. Which is BS and a loss would end all that talk.
That along with Big 10 schools having won the National Championship the last two years and I don't want their fanbase spewing nonsense about their conference being the dominant one.
As much as I hate it I might want to pull for Miami.
What say you?
FYI , if you " don't care" , that's great , you don't need to answer, because frankly I don't care.

re: Chambliss
Posted by saintlad74 on 1/13/26 at 1:25 pm to saintsfan92612
Drew Brees was 27 in 2006
Shough turned 26 this year and will turn 27 in week 4 of 2026
Rattler turned 25 this year and will turn 26 in week 4 of 2026
Chambliss will be 24 by the start of the 2026 season
_______________________________________
I never understood why people were concerned about how old Shough was coming into the season?
To me his age was actually a benefit, especially for a position as important as quarterback. A little more mature and more focused.
Now if he played a different position like running back or wide receiver then yes his age would be a major concern.

re: Should LSU (or the SEC as a whole) have an ice hockey team?

Best sport besides football

I would have to agree.
I'm a southern man , born and raised, but we have minor league hockey here and it's far more popular than any other sport they have tried here.
It's fast pace with the occasional fight breaking out.
IMO , better than running up and down the court with orange ball and doing the occasional dunk or hanging on the rim.
Only downside of hockey is the low scoring.

re: How many Prime Time games do we get next year?

I say three.
That's including two Thursday night games ( one of them possibly Thanksgiving and possibly Detroit) and one Monday night game.
I see the Monday night game being either Chicago or the Giants
If we do Paris , I see us losing our home game to Vikings or Steelers
