Heupel beat Dabo, Jimbo, Saban and Kelly. For a young P5 coach he has the record to support arguments in his favor but what truly did Kelly in vs Heupel was he mistook our offense for something it wasn’t. His pre game comments revealed that. Regular fans may not realize but what he did last season with Milton and a decimated WR corps was its own miracle.

I get this in one way, but any time you pay someone $76 million dollars to not coach your team anymore, insinuates that you were sold a false bill of goods and thus, he was a fraud.

I know the rant loves to get hung up on the buyout, it’s triple the 2nd place buyout or whatever, but a number is just a number. He was fired because we didn’t think he would get us to where we needed to be, and it was easier to cut bait quicker. As fan support dies out/disinterest in the program, it might have costed more to keep him in the long run.

All that to say, the guy you quoted is spot on. Someone with a Natty, multiple BCS bowl wins, numerous 10+ win seasons isn’t a fraud. He had a sustained level of success…. Just not at our school and we didn’t see it in the future, so we let him go. Jimbo being #1 is just recency bias and very shortsighted. And I say all this not a fan of Jimbo and am glad he’s gone from our program.

McElwain is a great pick for this thread. The fact that he won the East in back to back seasons is a testament to how shite the SEC East was 8-10 years ago.

Head to head matchups as an indicator of coaching prowess are a terrible indicator, especially with a small sample size.

Ed Orgeron was 2-0 vs Kirby, I'd never take Ed O over Kirby.

That time frame though was odd usually Tennessee plus either Florida or UGA would be down BUT either Mizzou or SC would have a good team. The head to heads against the West showed the disparity wasn’t all that much and was often dead even but BAMA was dominating adding a ton rep to the West while neither Mizzou nor SC could quite bring the same cache that having another Big 3 team would have brought. But it is a mistake to write off those SC and Miz teams.

Is Franchione still alive? It's like he fell off the earth after that 70 something point raping Oklahoma gave A&M. It's like the last image of him is the screenshot of him on the sideline with the score underneath.

Fine we’ll use turning around 15 years of dysfunction and using a team with less talent than those it played and one that lost more to the portal than anyone else becoming a playoff contender and beating LSU, Bama and Clemson who were also contenders that year despite being a 7 win team the season prior.

Exactly. Milton owes Heupel some of his NFL check. He worked miracles last year and in 2021 with Hooker.

Imagine what he can do with the top recruit in the entire nation behind center. Yikes.

Just ignore this sidewalk fan.

He probably started rooting for LSU when Burrow was there. Disgusting sidewalker trash.

CHADWICK MORRIS > Harsin

He was an incompetent dickhead the minute he stepped in the door. Ran players off, slimmed down the offensive line to a 280lb average to fit his system and checked out on Fridays to go watch his kid play, etc.

Bought a mansion his family never came to and a corvette, etc..

He was disconnected from the program most of the time and made bank leaving. Only thing he was good at was screwing us over and tanking the program. What an embarrassment.

Harsin worst recruiter in SEC history

Is it true that Auburn AD Allen Greene met Harsin at a jacuzzi in a resort...just randomly met him there and made the hire based on that chance meeting?

What a costly chance meeting.

I'm not saying Heupel is a bad coach, in fact I think he is a very good coach.

I wouldn't take him over Kelly now, mostly because Kelly has always won as much or more.

This is why I don't pick coaches. I really thought he would do what Sark has been doing at UT

Harsin wasn’t a fraud. He just want worth a shite. He didn’t come in with any fanfare. I wanted him to be good, but he was just shite.

You and me both. I thought he would be a home run and sark would be a failure.
