I'm surprised this isn't garnering more attention, but it seems as if an SEC team has already been caught with a live video monitor in their dugout for their home games.

LINK /

This on the heels of a Georgia pitcher getting caught on camera putting a substance all over his glove in the bullpen last weekend too.

Mik'd Up was breaking this whole thing down on their show and put up the home vs away splits in batting average for several SEC teams, some were pretty glaring.

They also brought up something I didn't think much of at the time, but when we played Miss State at their place, they had a batter that had an ear piece fall out during an at-bat.

I have so many questions. Is an ear piece for a batter legal? Does college baseball/SEC have rules in place against video monitoring? Does college baseball/SEC have rules in place against "sticky stuff"?

I seem to remember some video of Florida pitchers going to town spraying their hands and arms with some substance in the bullpen last year also.

With bluetooth technology as advanced as it is today.. an earpiece and/or wristband and/or leg strap and/or patch or whatever would be pretty easy to use imo..

They say in baseball..
"If you aren't cheating, then you aren't trying.."

Truth be told.. this is PROLLY happening on some level at some schools..

It is my opinion that Schloss was talking about State when he made the comments..
1) They have a large discrepancy between road/home splits during SEC play
2) The earpiece issue as you said above

It could be another team like Arkansas like has been mentioned, but their SEC splits aren't that different than most other teams. On the season, yes, there is a wider gap, but that is primarily because their Non-Conference games are against much weaker opponents..

Either way, I doubt Schloss just made it up.. but I have no idea who he was talking about.. but it could just be a little bit of posturing to take some of the heat off of his #1 team.

Don't see a problem with this

Has anyone looked at the Florida, South Carolina or Alabama splits yet?

here are State's stats in SEC play..
.264 overall
.225 on the road
.317 at home
.092 difference

And for the record, I'm not pointing the finger at anyone.. but I don't think Schloss would just make it up.. so one of the other 13 teams "most likely" got caught doing something they shouldn't have been..

This seems to be a much more civil thread...

My belief is that the team is someone aTm has already played this season at the opponents stadium. I believe aTm fans ran with the Arkansas thing, but it makes no sense to me. Schloss spoke last year about how he wants aTm's baseball program to be the money maker and type of program that Arkansas is. So to me, he would not back hand something like this insinuating it to be Arkansas.

There is also the fact that in SEC play the Arkansas home/road splits are not even close to what he suggested. Neither is it when all opponents are considered. Arkansas has had its lowest BA game happen at home this season, going 3/24 and hitting .120.

To me when I looked at everyone's numbers, Vandy made the most sense to me, but did not even give State consideration.

Here's the splits for all teams home vs road....

Arkansas .299 / .211 (.081)
Georgia .332 / .251 (.077)
Miss State .310 / .233 (.077)
Vanderbilt .306 / .233 (.073)
Missouri .279 / .219 (.060)
Florida .300 / .242 (.058)
Ole Miss .286 / .230 (.056)
A&M .330 / .292 (.038)
Auburn .277 / .242 (.035)
TENN .340 / .304 (.034)
Kentucky .314 / .286 (.028)
Alabama .321 / .298 (.023)
S Carolina .278 / .256 (.022)
LSU .286 / .267 (.019)

Seems pretty clear who the top 3 or 4 suspects are....

A&M played both Vandy and State at home.. could a team possibly tap into the feed as the visiting team? If yes, these are the most likely teams..

I'm about to run the stats for all SEC teams.. but for some reason, I'm having a hard time loading the stats pages for all of the teams I have tried.. maybe it's a learfield issue.

The timing of his statement is curious to me though..
Why did he say it now?
He knew someone would run with it.. so he purposely leaked it imo.. but why? and why this week?

Not really...The Hogs home BA is driven up by games against JMU, Grambling, Murray State, McNeese, ORU, Little Rock, Arkansas State, San Jose State, and Missouri State.

Against legit P5 competition at home (Mizzou, LSU, Ole Miss, Texas Tech, and Florida) Arkansas is batting .259 in those games.

The road average is also skewed a bit if factoring in Arlington the first of the season. In the Oklahoma State game, Arkansas has 52 at bats. Taking out the Arlington series, Arkansas is hitting 0.222 on the road.

looking at the stats for the year can be very misleading imo..

most teams play weaker OOC games at home..
plus all of the weaker mid-week games..

State's difference goes up in SEC play.. Idk about the others..

I believe that A&M has played 4 of the Top 6 teams on this list though..

3 of them at home (Vandy, State, Georgia)
1 on the road (Florida)

I was looking this up earlier in the week and couldn’t find anything as defined as what the MLB has. I think there’s a general stated rule against wetting the ball and using foreign substances but is there something generally accepted vs not (Ex. Sunscreen and rosin is ignored but pine tar/spider tack is a no no)?

A guy on one of the Georgia sites said it’s actually not a team A&M has played, that Schloss was referring to a well known rumor among the league coaches about a certain team
