I've tried to be sensible and give them the benefit of a doubt and say that they really are NOT going to struggle in the SEC like everything thinks they will. But take a look at the last 10 years of Long horn football below and tell me if that looks like they belong in the converstation of the 'elite' of cfb. Sorry Longhorn fans, I know last season was good and maybe, MAYBE, you're headed in the right direction, but all I see is a decade of mediocrity. And with the changing landscaping of cfb and a harder schedule it is going to only get tougher. Welcome to the SEC, but I don't think its going to be a warm and fuzzy welcoming. Just a feelin....

12-2
8-5
5-7
7-3
8-5
10-4
7-6
5-7
5-7
6-7

It helps they arrive when divisions are removed.

Are Charlie Strong or Tom Herman going to be at our games?

The SEC is hard. It just got a lot harder. I also noticed Georgia is going to Austin. All things a dawg fan should consider when wondering about the Shorthorns.

Honestly, probably not this season. Schedule is as favorable as you could ask for in an SEC slate, and they are playing better than they have in a decade.

Charlie Strong
2014 6-7
2015 5-7
2016 5-7

Herman
2017 7-6
2018 10-4
2019 8-5
2020 7-3

Sarkisian
2021 5-7
2022 8-5
2023 12-2

The talent level in 2023 & 2024 is better than all of the other years.. you have to go back to 2008 & 2009 to find something comparable.

NFL Draft Picks
2013 - 3
2014 - 0
2015 - 5
2016 - 1
2017 - 1
2018 - 4
2019 - 2
2020 - 3
2021 - 5
2022 - 0
2023 - 5
2024 - 8+

2025 - 8+
Ewers, Blue, Bond, Banks, Collins, T. Moore, Mukuba, Barron

2026 - 8+
Baxter, Golden, Campbell, Williams, Hill, Williams, Mohammed, Burke

Texas has a shitload of talent on the roster. The names listed are proven players.. there are a lot of other players that will likely be drafted, but they aren't proven yet.

Arch, Cook, Simmons, Baker, Filasme, Gibson, Moore, Wingo, etc

Sark has built a great roster and he has coaches that actually coach the players up..

They'll probably go 9-3 or 8-4.

We were always told we could never handle an SEC schedule. Now, I am being told we were given an easy SEC schedule. I didn't know there was an easy SEC schedule.

The top tier of the SEC are the best teams in college football. The rest of the SEC sucks.

They are going to experience the meat grinder just like every other team in the conference. They seem to be equipped along the lines and that will help them start off right but it will be just as tough for them as everybody else.

They got a really nice draw for their first season.

They'd lose 5 games playing UT's schedule. Luckily for them, they'll only lose 2 or 3.

But its all downhill from here, anyway.

It’s not Bama and UGA.

It’s that playing at Auburn, Florida, Tenner, or LSU will be fricking hell. TAMU, Kentucky, Mizzou and Ole Miss can give you their best of the season which will beat you if you slip up more than once.

And there’s OU. Your little frickbuddy about to go through the same little hell.

Sarkisian is the only coach in the last 10 years to recruit players built for the SEC. He's had 2 top 5 recruiting classes in the last three years and it wasn't just receivers, backs, and secondary to boost his numbers. He's built in the trenches signing at least 3 five stars to the offensive line alone. They will consistently post better records than what you've posted. Also, there was no NIL before Sark.

I'm not claiming they will win the SEC every year, but they are not going to struggle like some at the Rant believe.
