I am Gunga Din.... I am old. I go back to the days of watching "all white" SEC football and guys with nicknames like "Snake", and "Swamp Rat". I remember Spurrier winning the Heisman. I remember listening to LSU games at night on AM radio.
I remember rooting for the Hogs because our Sooners were horrible and one of Arkansas' big stars was from our home town (Lighthorse Harry Jones).
Legit cool story. Enjoyed your post. We will give you guys a hard time if you post before joining the conference, but welcome to the SEC

While I's watching the LSU pro day yesterday, I noticed a brand-new SEC commercial with OU and Texas on the field, along with the others.
I'll have to say it really lit up the airwaves and seemed like they were saying "this conference done snagged the big boys while the rest of ya'll are suckin wind."

Probably the best Texas poster on this board. Hands down.
Name is hook em. Nice to meet you. I like to fish and play golf. Been here since 2010. When my good friend Bow9en introduced me to the great site. RIP my boy. Charlie was a good dude. He had his demons. Miss that guy. Any questions for me?

I have not. Sorry. Just a guy who lives in North Alabama and works in Chattanooga Tennessee on the railroad. I'm a welder.

I love Sark. I think he has changed the culture at Texas.
It was a great hire. I think he can win a championship at Texas.

His best chance will be this year. We had a chance last year but our secondary was suspect and Washington was a bad match up. I thought we could match up with Michigan better. Texas could stop the run. But we will never know.

I've been on here for years...and I can't recall any Dewey Warren references, (certainly not from anyone who wasn't a Tennessee fan), until this one .

I shouldn’t have responded to this bait, but I chose to kiss pio’s big arse in hopes that he will start some Texas baseball game threads this year.
pio is way to citified to be starting any baseball threads.

Dad was an OU Grad, first OU game I attended was in 1974
Both my mom & stepmother are U. Texas alums
Most of my time here is spent flipping back & forth between the OT, tRant, MT, and tracking the price of BTC
I lived in BR for a few years after H.S., attended LSU for 3 semesters before I ran out of money and had to move back home.. always wanted to move back to BR but now I am glad I didn't
Wife (no pics) and I plan to visit LSU and either Auburn or Ole Miss this year
I love to travel, I drink a shite-ton of tequila, and like to play golf

I've generally been a lurker here, and only reply on rare occasion.
Originally from San Antonio, and love central Texas and the Hill Country. If only I could kick a few Yankees out of it before it becomes ENTIRELY unaffordable to retire there, then I can go out a happy man.
For sports in my life, it's been Spurs, Cowboys, and Longhorns. Used to love the Spurs, glad to have the SA fans get to enjoy winning all those rings. Sadly, PopoffmydumbazzmouthOvich has made it impossible to love them anymore. Cowboys (esp. before Jones) has been my lifelong joy (and a quarter century of misery.) And I ever like seeing my Horns in Austin do their thing. Despite the idiot political climate at the University and the Capital as a whole.
Like Cali, Austin has become one of those places too good for much of the people living there. But unlike many of the posters here and all the fAggies say, most of us alums are as fiscally and even socially conservative as Texans are as a whole. Open-minded, but not dumb as the D(idn't) E(arn) I(t) socialists IDPOL fools of the left are.
That said, we humbly ask PIO to not curse us in his SECRANT standard way moving forward. Please, and thank you...

If you recall, OU played Tennessee in the 1968 Orange Bowl.
As a kid in fourth grade how could you not love two QBs going against each other who were named "Swamp Rat" (Dewey Warren) and "The Wicked Worm".... Bobby Warmack.
I was fascinated by that Tennessee team, that game and that matchup. Hacksaw Reynolds and Kiner. Bob Johnson blocking on OU's Granny Liggins. Pickens and Fuller running the ball for the Vols and OU with future Heisman winner Steve Owens. Richmond Flowers the world class sprinter and Eddie Hinton catching passes.
OU wins because Karl Kremser misses a FG at the end with his new fangled soccer style kicking....
