Saban was on record saying he didn’t want to play LSU, Auburn, and Tennessee every year. Wondering if now that he’s gone if Alabama will still not want a hard schedule and hold up what’s best for the league over it.

Would Alabama be the only school playing 3 “Big 6” opponents every year?

If so, yes, I hope we continue to fight against that.

Alabama was one of the only teams that wanted a 9 game schedule.
Unlike LSU

Will LSU demand that the Big 6 all have relatively equal permanent opponents for the good of the league?

So I guess the answer is yes.

Will be interesting to see if they are willing to stop playing Auburn or Tennessee every year over this, because that’s the choice they’re going to have.

frick what they want.

The reason we never went to a full rotation back when we had 12 teams: 5 divisional opponents and rotating the other division home/away over a 4 year window (thereby playing everyone in the SEC home/away every 4 years) was because both Alabama and Auburn HAD to play Tennessee and Georgia every year because of their rivalry. Now they don’t want that because it would be too tough?

frick them.

Why not....Bama is the only team ever to run the SEC gauntlet undefeated!

I hope so.

You guys who want 9 game schedules don't understand basic math and why it's bad for the league as a whole.

I hope they keep fighting it cause the 9 game schedule is a bad idea long term for the conference

SEC schools against a 9-game conference schedule.

Nine of the 14 current SEC teams voted against the nine-game schedule, including the following:

Alabama

Tennessee

Vanderbilt

Kentucky

Auburn

Arkansas

Mississippi State

Ole Miss

South Carolina

We'll have a 9 game schedule.

But Bama won't play LSU every year.

Not because of "fear" or anything, but because they don't have the history with LSU that they do with other SEC teams and LSU has other teams (including the newcomers) that have a big interest in playing LSU more regularly more than Bama does (Texas, A&M, Arkansas, Ole Miss, and OU all have more interest than Bama).

Bama has 88 games against LSU. They have 107 vs MSU who I think will be their 3rd team to go along with Auburn and Tennessee.

Heck, they have 73 against UGA and we've been in different divisions for 30 years. 83 vs Vandy.

Pre SEC expansion, Bama's most frequent opponents were Tennessee, Auburn, MSU, Vandy and UGA.

Saban was the first to go on record in support of a 9 game schedule. He just didn’t want an uneven one. But you know that and are just shitposting because all the Husky Harsin stuff it disappearing like a fart in the wind since Bama recruiting is picking up. Find better material limp wrist.

Sorry pal, y'all are good and I get not wanting to play you every year right now. But MSU and OM are closer geographically and more relevant over the limited history of our schools, other than the Bear beating y'all like a drum in BDS-West. LSU is only relevant because of Saban and even that is declining.

I'd also easily trade Florida or UGA long term as a permanent because of the SEC CG battles.

Saban was consistently on record saying he wanted a 9 game schedule. When everybody else voted 8, he scheduled at least 1, but usually 2 Power 5 schools for out of conference- last year at S Florida and Texas at home. Next fall S Florida home and Wisconsin on the road.

MIRMAR BEACH, Fla. – We fell into a time machine Tuesday morning, and Nick Saban was discussing a nine-game SEC schedule again.

Saban, for a decade, has pounded the drum that the SEC should add an additional conference game. The league never embraced the Alabama coach's suggestion.
