It's not like memories lost, like tears in the rain.

There is a shite-ton of hardware if you would like to travel to Tuscaloosa.

he laid the foundation for LSU football

won 6 national championships for bama

mentored and gave hundreds of young men opportunities in the league

his coaching tree is ridiculous

Saban don't owe anyone a God damn thing

That’s correct. We are joyful and loyal to our school. You guys are lined up 200 deep to buy UGA t shirts.

The only person he owes anything to is his wife for putting up with his insane work/life balance since he was old enough to get a social security check.

If you see me working until 72 when I have grandchildren and a beach house, I was a victim of a Bernie Madoff (former Alabama student, BTW) scheme.

Exactly. Thank you for speaking sense. Dude is 72 years, and has worked his arse off, ridiculous hours at the office, for years.

He thought about giving it one more go for another year, but decided that even considering just one more year means he should retire now rather than later.

There would never be a perfect time or manner for a legend to leave the game and be replaced. Water’s always going to be rough inevitably after that retirement. But Bama went and hired a hot name coach (who Im excited about) who is putting together a good staff, and now it’s on them. We’ll see how it plays out from here, but Saban didnt owe anybody anything in regards to how he exited.

I don’t believe this I just think this wasn’t thought out. They should have lined up a new head coach and then brought him on as a head coach in waiting and let him hire his staff under Saban and then Saban should have stepped down in April when the portal was open for everyone.

Fan "loyalty" is no less conditional than coach and player loyalty.

If you're a coach and can't quite get over the hump, the fans will call for your head and the school will fire your arse. Plenty of alumni have been kicked to the curb by their alma mater.

If you are a mediocre player and the school can get someone better out of the portal, they will put your arse on the bench.

Fans only want all this loyalty from good coaches and players - and couldn't give a flying frick about the ones who are not.

So what happens if the "guy" they bring in pisses off a lot of current players and they hit the portal anyway? The guys hitting the portal could give two shites about the University of Alabama and it's football program. They came to play for Saban. He was their chance to the next level. It wouldn't have mattered who they brought in as "coach in waiting" it's not Nick Saban.

Maybe there was an informal agreement with Lanning but Lanning backed out.

We sure aren’t. There’s a reason Saban retired from that redneck shithole, y’all are done in the NIL era and Auburn is about to bully y’all around the state. Embarrassing that any of your fans still feel like you have the right to talk shite

Well...it seems to me as an outsider, that Saban loved bama and hated LSU. He only stayed at LSU for five years, saw what a shithole Baton Rouge and the entire state of Louisiana were, and bolted to greener / more educated / less downsy pastures.

He stayed at Bama for 17 years and only resigned because of old age and perhaps serious health concerns about his wife. Plus, he's staying on and will keep an office in the Bama football facility.

LSU should be eternally greatful that he gifted them two Natty's. One he won, and the second one he set up for retard-Les to inherit.
