So Downs may be leaving.. that's certainly a blow to the program. But it's my experience that things are never as good or as bad as they seem.
This staff isn't even completed yet.. the sky isn't falling. We may take a small step backwards no doubt, but that's not an absolute certainty either.
Deboer is a really good football coach. He's putting together what I consider to be a really good staff.
Time will tell!
Donate to the collective, cheer for our team and lets see what happens. I have a feeling that when the smoke clears we will be ok.

Boz said repeatedly he was staying so I don't believe it

Track his prediction over these past 14 days.

Our success next year may depend on a couple more coaches at high level programs leaving so we can poach secondary players from the portal.
The whole system is broken.

Good post. Just gotta ride this stretch out. Still a lot of talent on the roster and we are bringing in some good coaches, who have a vision for the future.

Completely agree. It has to be expected that we were going to take a step back and that we'd lose a lot of players due to their association with a coach(es) and not the school. That is just the way it is now. We will grab some from the portal too. Maybe, just maybe, the DC and defensive staff we have coming in will make the defense better regardless of who is back there. We've had countless 5 stars on the defense for the past umpteen years and they have looked completely lost for the past 5 or 6 years. Let the new staff do their jobs and freak out later if it's not going well.

Everybody keeps saying this, but I don't see any articles saying it's official. Why would there need to be rumors about something like this when he can enter the portal at any time?

No. It is stupid for a coach whose livelihood depends on winning to take a principled stand against this bullshite, but I am not sacrificing my money that I could use to buy things for my own kids so that it can go to some dipshit teenager I don't know who is going to take it and run. Just go to revenue sharing and cut out the rest of this nonsense.

I’d love to see Tony Mitchell, Qua, Pierre and J Alexander stay and get PT. We wanted to see our young Bama talent play. Here’s the chance.
With Brian Kelly and LSU they have made an effort to just focus on Louisiana kids and put their NIL into those in state players. We need to do the same in Alabama now. Frick the barn.

I think Deboer has shown he's able to do more with less at all of his coaching stops. It sucks losing really talented players, but we have a coach and staff that is used to making the most out of the guys they have.

When Michigan played Washington for the National Championship, they had a COMBINED two (2) 5 stars.
Michigan Football Proves Stars Aren't Everything in Win Over Bama
PAC-12 Talent Comparison
Final Score vs. Most talented team in PAC-12
UW (0 5-Stars, 27 4-Stars) 52
USC (6-5 Stars, 39 4-Stars) 42
We've still got plenty of talent, and those that stay will be team players!

It’s today’s reality. We have a large number of as Josh Pate put it, trust fund fans. They’ve just expected us to win the title every year.
When we do they puff out their chests and brag, when we don’t they run around with their hair on fire screaming coach is washed up and is Dabo, or whoever else is the hot name is available.
I’m tired of telling them to grow the frick up. It’s past time they did and figure out everything in life isn’t easy, to really appreciate it you have to work for it.
Those of us over 60 when it comes to this game really learned that the hard way.

When these changes came in, I said don't be surprised if a team like Wisconsin starts to win more. Yeah, a team like Texas will pay more but that's a dangerous game bc that's assuming these young guys won't get spoiled not to mention its constant roster turnover the likes we've never seen.

He also said it was Lanning. He doesn't know more than anyone random person.

The bottom line is this, you don’t hire a coach or staff based on one recruit or recruiting class. You make the right hires and whey will outlast Downs and an entire recruiting class.
Saban is gone and we will likely never see a dynasty like his again. But I think the best possible hire was made and eventually CKD and his staff will be dominant in the SEC. I can’t wait to watch this unfold.

Exactly.
New Coach, New Staff, New way of thinking.

What's really getting lost in all this is that the most important position on the field remains intact. So far, the only quarterbacks who have transferred are the ones who wouldn't have started.
That's a big frickin' deal. In fact, it's the biggest deal.

If it’s a money game, I’m sure there’s a lot of fat that can be trimmed in the athletic department.
