I was wondering why Frank hadn't pitched in ages.

He got shelled vs Bama in the Sunday game

I don’t recall seeing Mcentire this weekend. Did I miss something?

He came in in the 7th in game 2 and got shelled for 4 hits, a BB, and 2 runs, and he ironically got the win because our bats got hot in the bottom of the 7th when he was the pitcher of record.

He's just not fooling anyone currently. Same thing happened last year. Full on pitching machine mode again. He just has to pray the rockets leaving the bats go right at someone right now.

Deep into SEC play he gets shelled leaving pitches up in the zone. Just not enough velo to fool quality SEC batters.

Diggs can not start going forward. He needs a week or 10 days away from the game.

Souza has the highest slugging % at .589 (followed by Wagner at .564). Helfrick is actually on the lower end of the team rankings at .375), which is 11th out of all hitters.
Yeah my bad, should’ve clarified. I was talking SEC games only. Helfrick had the highest slugging % going into today’s games.

Any chance Dietz comes back this year? I’m worried some of our bullpen arms are trending in the wrong direction..

Yeah, we're beyond the whole "let the veteran hit out of a slump" approach.
He's an automatic out and looks absolutely lost at the plate, and they've tried everything with him from resting him midweek and to pinballing him up and down the batting order. Ironically, I think his glove is what's keeping him in the lineup.
I think our OF needs to be some combo of Souza, Edmunson, Holt and Lovich. Wilmsmeyer is nothing more than a late game situational defensive sub.
Diggs and Wilmsmeyer are slashing a combined .179 / .280 / .294 in conference games.

We all know that DVH will ride Diggs in the conference games and allow him to hit his way out of it.

I'm really hopeful Diggs turns it on like Michael Turner did post radio guy calling him a rental player. He needs to get his eyes checked. I've never seen him look so lost in my life. It could be an actual issue, not trying to be a dick.

His swing looks terrible to me.
Too many moving parts, and he stares at fastballs right down the middle too often.

He is 100% guessing and is not able to pick up pitches. Basically Casey Martin mode.

Had this exact same thought this weekend.
He reminds me a lot of Martin. Both were very good as underclassmen but fell off because they were guess hitters who got behind every count and can’t hit a breaking ball.

The book is out on Diggs’ plate approach. He won’t swing at the first 2 pitches in the hopes that the pitcher will get behind in the count and throw him a fastball. What’s happening is that opposing pitchers are grooving 2 fastballs right over the plate, getting Diggs to 0-2, and then throwing a curve or slider in the dirt on 0-2 or 1-2 which he swings at wildly. If you can get Diggs behind 0-2 or 1-2, the AB is basically over.
I don’t know how to fix it other than the coaches telling him to start swinging at the first pitch or 2, but as Bubba always says, that’s something that’s basically part of a player’s DNA from youth ball, and kid’s either a first pitch swinger or not.

Holt's play in CF was the number 1 in the SC Top 10. DVH had him riding the pine for how many games?

FWIW, he hasn't been working in the outfield for very long.
Dude is just trying to get on the field. With Wilmsmeyer sucking arse at the plate, it shouldn't be a problem going forward
