JMO but Bond selected a QB at Texas over the QB he was running routes for. I think situation was similar to Hurts as QB in 2017 with those receivers.

Bond is no Waddle for sure.

Since this is now a business shouldn't players start signing contracts?

I’ve always thought it should be ok if your head coach leaves. Sucks, but in most cases the player has committed to a coach and not the school. So I understand these moves.

It’s all the other guys that just bounce because they didn’t get to start or didn’t get paid enough that makes me ill. Those are the players that you can’t plan for and basically wasted a scholarship for a year so you can turn around and roll the dice again next year.

And why the hell not? Players were loyal to their respective schools up until five minutes ago.

Different world now. Expecting loyalty from players with no real ties to a school who have opportunities to make money elsewhere doesn’t get us anything.

It's about time we just call a spade a spade, make these guys university employees, and tie them to the school with contracts. If they want to transfer, they or the prospective school will have to buy out the contract before they see themselves to the door. Slap a $1-3 million buyout on some of these skill position players and then see how many of them are able to transfer.

I’d be fine with this. Buying out contracts is the norm in world football. Might work for CFB.

Best of luck to him. You always hope the player commits to the school, but the connection with the coaches and support staff that recruited them and brought them on board is just as strong a factor, if not more so.

He was leaving before Saban retired. Players care nothing about the program. Maybe they never did.

Yep. People like to bitch about how coaches can just up and leave whenever they want, but they have contracts that usually include buyout clauses so the only way they can actually do that is if they pay a penalty. Players should have to do the same. Either out of their own pocket or their new employer's.

I mean he probably got paid like crazy. Im not sure how anyone can blame players in these circumstances. shite sucks but it is what it is. You can ,however, definitely have less love for the plays he made as a bama player

Hit UT with a tampering charge. Anyone contacting our players before they portaled should pay a price.

I'm so old school to the point where I would literally hunt for him if we played against each other lol

That's sad. The guy made himself a legend here. Nowadays though, you take the money. He obviously got a pretty good raise. I don't blame him. Sometimes the money's too good to pass up.

I've left good jobs for more money. No reason he can't.

This is what I’ve been saying from the beginning.

Like others have said we will benefit more than we will suffer under these new rules.

To me, the winners in NIL era will be the schools with passion and money and a HC that knows what he's doing ( player development is still a factor). No one has more passion than Bama and we develop players but show me the NiL possibilty of Lambo of Tuscaloosa? Or having Phil Knight pay 250k for a drawing of a DE that took 10 min. There are tons of schools with more money that don't care about football but when those that have both passion and money ...and a competent HC that can use talent.

Texas gave him a Lambo to drive...seems a bit desperate for an above average receiver

They absolutely should do this. If you or me started selling things with that script A, wed have a team of lawyers on us faster than you can blink

Grubb and Deboer took a 3 star and 4atar recruit and made them 1000 yard receivers. Not worried about the position at all eta I guess unless everyone transfers. But I’d have to be happy if I was Hale, Law, etc

shite is totally out of control and there is no loyalty.

What loyalty do fans have to players? If UA could replace anyone on the roster with someone better out of the portal, you guys would be all for it.

Loyalty? It's non-existent both ways. The players want money and opportunities, and the fans want wins and championships. The players don't give frick whose uniform they wear if provided with the best opportunity available, and the fans don't give a frick who wears the uniforms as long as they win games.

Am I right?
