Imagine leaving being rich in Seattle in a tax free state where you just took the team to an NC to go follow-up the greatest coach of all time at the school with the highest standards in the toughest conference and pay a 5% tax for the privilege of doing it in the Yellowhammer State in the bargain.

If Bama gets DeBoer, good on them. I'll become a convert to the mystique of the Tahde.

Normally this would be a huge deal, but
1. It’s Alabama
2. NIL

He makes 4.2 and would be over 7 if he went to Alabama

When we hired Harsin, he had no existing relationships with high schools in the south. He didn’t understand what it takes to be successful in recruiting in this league. DeBoer has coached in Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, California, South Dakota, and Washington. He’s never been close to the southeast.

It is hard to believe Auburn AD wasn't aware of that when he hired him.

Once upon a time, Saban was a quasi-Yankee from Michigan State with a previous stop in Toledo.

shite, DeBoer would be a helluva upgrade relative to their last hire from the Evergreen State.

Y'all act like the "South" exists in 2023. A sure sign of the non existence is the amount of clothing stating that person is " Southern". It's not a cultural distinction from ... When I was a kid. I don't know the guy from Adam but I would rather have him from wherever than a good ole southern boy that cheats with prostitutes

Do you not consider lane a top coach?

And if you can prove it’s 95% of my posts I’ll delete this account. Stop being butthurt. I literally called out our basketball team last night.

Neither had Saban when LSU hired him. Last three stops before Baton Rouge: Toledo, Cleveland Browns and Michigan State.

Deboer will never win a title at Wash. The best he can hope for is something like this year where they make a run and then get out-manned up front, just like Oregon and Washington always do in the big games. It’s not ideal to follow Saban obviously, but it’s also not very often where you get offered a job like Alabama.

I think he’s a decent coach, and would not be a terrible hire. If he works hard and gets a couple of SEC guys on staff, then recruiting will work itself out especially in NIL era when you can offer straight cash.

Imagine making a run from Sioux Falls to Fresno St — Washington — Alabama, the latter part of that journey in like 4 years. That’s a hell of a rise. And who knows how hot of a name he will be in the next few years. If Wash has a down season then all of a sudden he’s maybe not as big of a fish. Gotta strike while the iron is hot.

Nick Saban had no connections to the South when he took the LSU job. Harsin is lazy and was a lazy hire. The two situations are not pragmatically comparable.

I don't think fit matters. Kelly is a terrible fit at LSU. Just win and the fit will take care of itself.

Lol 7 million a year for a coach that hasn't run a big time program yet?

Still, I'm sure he'll get a raise at UW and they're going to get a shot at a championship with a good team in the B1G.

Seems like a tough spot to give up from his position, even if he wasn't following up Saban at Alabama.

Just crazy, I remember being surprised when the Huskies hired him here as a non-Huskies fan with a friend that has a kid on the team and hangs around local sports fans. Had to google him.

Just doesn't seem like a match. Too quick, too much downside for the AD, too much glass ceiling/spiked floor for DeBoer, taxes, weather (as a guy from South Dakota, Seattle is a lot more his weather than Tuscaguldarnloosa.)

I just don't think it's real.

Required interview to show due diligence at Bama and the tool DeBoer uses for his raise at UW is my guess.

I mean, he's had what, 3 good seasons in his career, 4? And aside from the Ole Miss ones, were any considered outstanding for where he was? And he's been fired a couple times for being a complete a-hole- from the Raiders, and from USC... I don't think he's really cleaned his act up that much from that, either. He just went somewhere it's tolerated.

The last Bama coach from the Evergreen State didn't coach a single game because he brought a stripper back to his hotel room.

As we've seen with Brian Kelly, these Yankee boys go hard at trying to fit in.
