Well because they aren't actually loving as Christ did.. those types have hijacked the meaning and perverse it to serve their own specific desires and agenda.

Muslim, Islam, Sunni, Shia, Christian, Christianity, The Way...

It is not my place to approve of or disapprove of the way "our" players or anyone else chooseto worship or whom they choose to worship. They are not "our" players.

I am a Christian by my own choosing. I was raised in a Christian home. But I do not have the right to make or approve of that peronal choice for anyone else. I do have the right to state and share my beliefs as well as the why behind those beliefs.

As to what does or does not have a place in an online conversation about sports... My beliefs and My Lord are part of me and thus should be a part of everything that I do, including my online conversations.

If anyone here does not like my takes / opinions on anything, I have no issue with that. It does not alter what I believe or how I choose to express those views.

What I find inappropriate, and this was my initial point, is anyone thinking they have the right to control or stymie conversation just because they don’t care for the subject. So a post was made with a link to an article about certain players on the team and the subject of article happened to be about the Muslim faith, which isn’t necessarily a common topic, but it isn’t unusual. Then someone made a comment about the article and that comment also included comments about the Christian faith, again not necessarily a common topic, but it isn’t that unusual and certainly not something so out of bounds that deserves some dipshit trying to police comments.

You confuse hate with telling someone you think it's wrong to be Muslim. If you truly are a Christian you tell people when they're wrong. They don't have to believe you but you need to tell them.

The Bible says that through Jesus is the only way to heaven. If you truly love people you tell them that. That's not hate it's love. Most so called Christians are not going to do that because they're taught that it's wrong to question faith. Me personally I could do without this talk on this board but I'm not going to be a ahole about it.

The difference is the first post was a recently published article about characters on the team, and the reply was some rando's personal feelings against a specific religion.

No… you brought that shite here just to stir the pot and start controversy and that’s all you did.

I don't see anything controversial about it. I didn't editorialize at all. Posted no opinion. Just the article. Not my fault if people can't handle the simple existence of different perspectives.

I'm also not gonna fill up pages arguing about it so that's all I'm going to say.

They are not “our players.” We don’t own these young men playing ball in America, where we have freedom of religion.

So because I would prefer the topic of Tide Football, not get derailed by religious arguements and instead keep that talk, which has nothing to do with Tide Football, in the off-topic area makes me the internet police? You you attacking me for stating my preference makes you nothing more than a hypocrite, doing the exact thing you are whining about, being the internet police. If you feel noone should tell someone else what opinions they can post, why are you telling me I can't post my opinion that a football topic should remain a football topic?

I'm not trying to control the subject. The subject of this conversation, Tide Football, is in the top part titled Subject. I would just like to stay in the actual subject. I didn't go to a Subject titled Christian VS Muslim debate and try to tell people to talk about Alabama football.

And my comment wasn't meant just for the person I was replying to, it was meant for the whole board. I post from my phone, I'm not sure how to reply to multiple people, so I replied to the last person who posted.

I am not Muslim but I found it interested. We are all aware of players who derive some of their strength from faith but it is often through Christ in the US. It was a different perspective and I'm glad that their faith is foundational for them and helped them realize their potential in life.

You didn’t need to post your opinion when all you was doing was looking for a response

Look Ramadan, it’s pretty clear you didn’t just state a preference, you went beyond that. I don’t really care about your preference, none of us should care about your preference or mine or anyone else’s. This is a board where everyone should get to post whatever we want, especially in response to another post or linked article, how hard is it to understand that if you don’t like something then just browse past it.

Let's leave religious discussions out of football threads. There is an O-T lounge for that. No good ever comes from online religious debates, especially ones that challenge other people's faith, and the last thing I think anyone on here wants is 3 or 4 pages in the middle of the football thread that is not about football.

I think it’s pretty clear, your post said let’s leave religions discussions out of the football thread, but you don’t seem to comprehend it’s a football related topic. I really don’t see how you can miss the connection, the article was about football players on Alabama’s football team and the response was related to the article. That old saying that reading fundamentals are key to comprehension really holds true.

In any case you shouldn’t act like your preference is more important than others and you shouldn’t assume to speak for the masses, it’s the off season, lighten up.

Jesus also told us to love our neighbor and that only He is judge.

There is nothing wrong with stating Jesus is the only Way and the Truth. There is when people weaponize this to hate others. That is NOT what Jesus was about. Let Him judge, and just try to represent Him with the love He told us to have for even those who don't love us.

Notice how the thread title says "in honor of TidalSurge"?

He'd be having an aneurysm right now with your continued long OT rants. This is not a board where people can post whatever they want, and this thread specifically has more rigid discussion guidelines, that have been decided on by the community, over years of managing it.

Some OT discussion happens, it's natural. We've all played a part in that I am sure, but we all try to keep it minimal for a reason.

I'm obviously contributing to that right now so this is my only post about it but it clearly needed to be reiterated again.

I don't think Alabama football players taking a trip to a mosque during the Rose Bowl trip and sharing their faith with one another is off-topic to be honest.

I really have no idea what the hell is going on here...its wild.

You are such a dumbass, you can’t comprehend the simplest of ideas. It has nothing to do with anyone’s opinion, it has to do with you determining you get to decide who posts what.

As for your bag of dicks idea, why don’t you sack them up and meet me at Sonic.

Clearly I’m terrible at communicating. I don’t care what religion the players are, but I do care about people trying to stymie other people’s speech and ideas.

I’m just being a smart arse Alfie. I know what you’re saying. I pissed Surge off a few times with the same stance.
