He's a solid coach. I'm not saying he's great but he's much better than average and has always been at a recruiting disadvantage at OSU. Seems to be a good offensive mind. I've always been curious why no other schools have made a serious run at him for HC, especially after he came so close in 2011. Any input other than "I'm a man, I'm 40"?

He played at OSU, may be hard to lure him away.

I feel like Tennessee has tried to hire him a few times. He’d be perfect for Arkansas

He’s had plenty of overtures but is loyal to his alma mater.

Mike has always been a good coach.
He is orange and black to the bone. He was never going to leave for another job.

he's home, he does whatever he wants, and there are no expectations in stillwater. he's living the life and i don't think jumping into the furnace appeals to him.

This is something like his 9th 10 win season as a head coach. He's better than Lester was at Okie state. Lester went on and won a national championship at LSU.

OSU lifer. Narive Okie. Played QB for OSU. Spent almost his entire coaching career at OSU.
Coached elsewhere for a few years in the late 90's. Otherwise, basically his entire adult life has been at OSU as a student, player, or coach.

T Boone Pickens has helped keep him paid and at OSU.

We wanted him in '17. I don't recall any other time.

How much more than $7.6 million a year does a guy need to make? He’s been there 19 years which is rare these days so he must be very comfortable where he is.
He should be well set for life so staying put is a no brainer.

That coach at Oregon St was a Beaver but he got the hell out of Dodge and jumped off that sinking ship just as soon as he could so I will give Gundy more credit for being loyal. Just gotta wonder though if it really got hard on him like the Oregon St coach would he be that loyal.

Why would it get hard on him?
He became OSU's all time winningest coach in 2011, and he's still winning lots of games and competing for conference titles 12 years later, just padding that win total.

He’s same as Kirby. He’s home

Everyone in Arkansas thought he was the hire in 2012. On the day of the announcement of Bielema, he was the name that everyone said it was locked in as and then Bielema comes out of left field to be the guy.

I wanted him at Arkansas when Petrino was fired but Arkansas got that lazy bum named Bert instead.

I was disappointed when Gundy wasn't the hire and didn't like the Bert hire.
