Oh come on, Okstate was 19th in media views the past decade. If anyone deserves to be middle it’s us. Numbers for Bedlam and Okst vs Texas are always good because we’re ranked at some point every season. And we’re competitive in other sports. We get higher views than the bottom half of the SEC, if we had that TV money we could do even more. We should be the top pick after the flagship schools are sorted out.

Not really. OSU is a historically terrible program in football that is only where it is because of the magic Gundy has done. As soon as he’s gone, logic says OSU will be bad again and won’t have any TV draw. And on average, their average TV audience right is not good anyway.

2. Neither the Big10 nor the SEC wants FSU. Where could FSU go to get big money? Certainly not the Big12.

It amazes me that people think FSU would be going through all of this trouble without working back channels to ensure they had a landing spot. I remember an interview with our AD or President where someone asked about options for FSU and he smirked and said “we will be okay”

You have a well-documented attention whore for a president that thinks he is going to be AAU and B1G or SEC. If those pegs want FSU so bad, then where are the invites? There is no reason for anyone not to make an invitation public at this point.

But your scenario blows that theory up completely. Wipe the slate clean and cherry pick over the entire country. One thing there is who gives up power? I don’t see the Big 10 brass or SEC brass willing to cooperate to run off to form their own league. You go from 2 powerful commissioners … to one. And on down the line. Never underestimate the enticement and addiction of power to those that seek it. And anyone already in those high positions… sought it… like it… and want to keep it.

You are correct. Greed is the building block of capitalism. I’m a firm believer that when push comes to shove, the appropriate parties will enjoin and reach consensus.

There is a limited pie of money. Slice it up and see who gets less. The schools are on the losing end. The money cometh from alums etc or from the school athletic revenue generated or both. If the networks aren’t willing to negotiate higher payouts, then either the schools say no play for pay or find ways to increase revenue.

That’s my premise why SEC and Big Ten will one day talk

Merry Christmas!

I understand that. But when they're already up by 2 teams about to take more of those top teams left, you HAVE to make a move or else eventually get destroyed yourself.

I see it as a Monopoly game where you have 1 place of every color & your opponent has the rest. You may have temporarily halted their winning, but (unless something happens) you'll run out of $ to stay afloat.

What value would Okie lite bring to the SEC? Your biggest claim to fame is “eternal Bedlam champs” and that would disappear quicker than Ollie Gordon at the Big 12 championship.

With their own TV deal with NBC, why would Notre Dame join either conference? They wouldn't.

Notre Dame gets $22M a year. The new SEC contract with ESPN is for $300M...only $18.75 per school...and that's before the league office takes their cut.

The SEC teams will already receive 100 million per team from the TV deal.

Not annually. The total is $300M annually.

UNC and UVA fans don't watch football.

And UCLA fans sure as hell don't watch football.

The national angle isn't as big as one might think.

A couple of years ago, week zero, the last weekend in August. The only two games in the country were Hawaii-UCLA and Alcorn St.-NC Central. In a state of 33,000,000 people, UCLA didn't even draw a million viewers and drew fewer viewers than the HBCU game.

It's always South Carolina fans talking shite the most to these other conferences. And I freaking love every minute of it cause it gets under their skin so much

Logistics will kill the big 10. They parade this big media deal but all that $$$ will be drained by travel ect..
All they did was add a nightmare upon a knee-jerk reaction from the SEC adding Texas and Oklahoma.

To be fair they have a lot to lose, same with ole miss arky miss st mizzou Kentucky. Right now they're just the bottom of the sec but the top of Collegefootball when all 100plus are included. When the break happens these schools are going to be the bottom of the new division. No more riding conference mates. It'll be interesting to see if fans of teams that normally don't compete for anything handle the new division. Will usce fans care about football if there is no conference pride? Something to think about.

you say this as if it's a conference dog competing with another conference dog, while not realizing that the cannibalizing of dogs eating each other would be taking place within our own conference. If the SEC, as a hypothetical example, had 24 teams and it was the top 24 teams in CFB history, on paper that would seem to really make a lot of people happy because "we're bette rthan the big 10 lol!!!!" when in reality all it would do it make things harder than a motherfricker for everyone actuall in the sec. You could have a team that's legitimately a top 5 or 6 team in America that won't sniff the playoff becuas ethey have 4-5 losses.

The SAME argument can be made for the B1G, but I haven't seen/heard any discussion about that for their conference.

But you can't tell me that the B1G going to 19+ schools & the SEC will be satisfied staying at 16.

Would you be fine if the B1G grabbed everyone else & the SEC stay as is? Sooner or later, we'll be picked apart.

As long as we continue to have the best top half which really isn't even close to a debate who cares if our bottom half isn't as good as someone else's.

Then the bottom half leaves the SEC, making somebody from the upper teir the new "bottom rung".

Not to mention the big has recently displayed a tenacity in negotiations that I don't believe Sankey has. When fox comes to the table with 24 teams and a lot of big brands. And Sankey walks up with 16. They'll beat sec at the negotiating table and get more money(I mean playoff spots)
