It's becoming harder to remain a fan of college football

School loyalty is very few and far between these days. I hate to say it, but the NFL is even better than this shitshow. The NIL and portal have absolutely ruined the sport. At this point, is it even worth it?

Seinfeld had a joke that you aren't cheering for the players, you're cheering for the jersey.

I agree with you, though. If there was any doubt that college football was a minor league for the NFL, it's gone now. At least in the NFL, and with coaches, there are multi year contracts. With this new court ruling, players aren't limited to one portal transfer anymore.

Dawg fans are making a mountain out of a molehill.

Players have been transferring for decades.
Nate Hybl left the Dawgs after 1999 and had two top 10 seasons with the Sooners.
John Dewberry transferred to Tech back after 1981.

And players have always followed the bags in recruitment.

UGA shouldn't complain.
Mississippi State should complain. Vandy should complain. They can't hold any talented players year over year.
It is still business as usually in Athens.

How? Why do you care about NIL? Ignore it, we will help players get enough cash that it’ll largely help us many times.

Portal isn’t bad either, we’ve had good contributors from it (Kendrick, Tykee, Rara, Lovett).

I don’t disagree but at least we aren’t one of the also ran schools. All in all it might be a pain, change your feelings on the game, etc. but it will in all likelihood be a net positive for Georgia. That’s not at all true for a place like Vanderbilt or Miss State or others. Those schools may well be forced out of the P5(4) in years to come.

It is crazy.. what gets me are the players that are entering the portal that have had a good season and should/will be the starting the upcoming year. Are they leaving looking to make more money?

Agree.
I'm just thankful that Kirby was able to win back-to-back NC before the poop show started affecting our recruiting in such a way that he might be hard pressed to put together another championship team.
I will remain optimistic but based on what is happening this season it's clear that it's starting to impact our recruiting.

I am not smart enough to figure it all out, but the amount of money made by the SEC and Big10 schools makes NIL money really very small. Add the collectives. and increase in tickets and everything else nothing has changed except players are getting more money. As for the portal schools like UGA, Bama and the like will be able to possible get better players not only from portal, but add more from high schools. No one knows what the new model will be, but sure won't be like the old one.

Could not agree more
NIL and Transfer portal has destroyed what makes this game so beautiful.
I quit following recruiting etc years ago with all the “respect my decision” tweets etc

I love college football and watch a ton of it but as for my teams I follow whoever walks out on the field the first game that is who I will watch

But my give a “sh&t” factor on the outcome is significantly lower
I just watch to watch football

Please.Just stop with the drama. You'll be parked right in front of the set to watch every snap of the Orange Bowl and counting the days over the Summer in anticipation of the Clemson game.

Geez. If only some had relentlessly sounded the warning about EXACTLY what would happen….

About what sacredness was at stake. And what predictable mess would replace it

I have zero sympathy or nostalgia for this current grim reality. Based on how it went down. And by who facilitated it. Or by who cheered it on (retards)

I left it all on the field. And loved it with everything while it was still gold.

Pair it with targeting nonsense making tackling illegal, the constant barrage of commercials, and now the extended playoff. Suddenly CFB has become an entirely new thing, and it sucks.

It’s harder and harder for me to care when the players aren’t playing for the university but for a paycheck.
