Op needs to study economics. Jimbo's money was a sunk cost forget it.
The question: Is it worthwhile to payoff existing assistants and take on the added $7 - $10 million per year for a new HC that performs better?
Several high profile assistants already left on their own. No payoff to them.
The answer is resoundingly yes and glad Jimbo and his excuses are gone. We'll easily cover the added $7 - $10 million per year for incremental HC salary.

I guess it depends on how many of the transfers would have stayed if Jimbo was still there. We’ll never know, but my guess is there would have been a mass exodus either way honestly

Losing ER and TP in one year would have happened anyway. Other than DL and Bisontis, Jake Johnson the portal loses are guys we can replace with an upgrade.
The portal announcements cause consternation but the additions come later and trickle in.

I like that Elko is getting proven players out of the portal. Enough with the it’s all about me high school kids.
The problem is that the majority of the kids in the portal are there either because they weren't good enough to get playing time at their last stop or because they're just looking for cash.

CB we just got is an instant upgrade. Let's let portal play out.
Doubters can review portal CB rankings.

You just jumped to a conclusion

Lee is probably similar to Chap. Wouldn’t necessarily say upgrade. Think we have a good shot at the Oregon St defensive trio. The LB was PAC first team and McCoy was very solid as a true fish. McCoy is an upgrade over Deuce. The LB can’t replace Cooper but definitely better than our internal options.

I’ve always believed that you get what you pay for…but aggy proved me wrong when they brought in Jimbo, and then extended him…but…that’s why they are aggy.

Don’t you think it’s about time you admit that you were wrong about Jimbo not being accountable to the Board of Regents?
You were questioning the BOR and the AD about the Petrino hire, and saying that Jimbo had all the leverage and didn’t have to listen to anyone.
Did I miss that? If so, apologies…
But the BOR ultimately decided the sunk costs had to be dealt with. Tough pill to swallow but it was the right medicine.

I mean it's pretty clear that the BOR and AD didn't have any leverage and Jimbo wasn't listening to them.
Why do you believe otherwise?

Your former OL coach is probably why you were playing 2nd and 3rd string QB's the past 3 years. That guy sucked.

I think aggies would have lost a lot more players on offense if Jumbo had stayed coach. My 7th grade FB coach had better offense than Jumbo.

It’s pretty obvious that he was given too much power at first. But let’s not keep pretending that he wasn’t made to hire the OC.
And the buyout was not a get out of jail free card, and leverage could be exercised if Jimbo continued his stubbornness.
So the leverage was exercised when he was fired.

How did they "make" him hire the OC?
They apparently couldn't "make" him let Petrino run the offense fully?

Now Jimbo just gets paid and doesn't have to do anything.

No doubt. Addazio was embarrassingly bad.
The OL really let the team down.

Ok, nevermind. It can’t be spelled out any more clearly.

Wasn't it though?
A&M is far from alone in overpaying for a coach but certainly the amount was high and the apparent administration leverage by the contract was reduced.
FWIW Elko might work out. And I don't blame A&M for either hire really. They overpaid in retrospect for Jimbo but they took a chance worth taking even if the amount of the contract was pretty high.

These mofos can't just accept that we had a problem and we realized it and told Jimbo to pack his shite.
This is all a done deal and is history now.

Well I would agree if it impacted hiring and firing decisions.
But it was definitely a lesson in overpaying that was learned the hard way.
