Auburn practices for Alabama throughout season and overlooks others...true or false?

I've heard this for many years, that Auburn spends valuable practice time throughout the season practicing for Alabama, instead of their next opponent.
Is this true or just something some Bama fans say?
edit: if anyone has a quote from a coach/player/staffer proving this, please share.

They definitely did during the week before they lost to fricking New Mexico State at home by 21 points. There is no way they spent more than a few hours prepping for that game.

Georgia does same thing week of Georgia Tech. They'll be rolling out all kinds of shite havent seen in the SECCG.
Must be nice to have a built in bye week before the SECCG.

I have read years ago where Auburn players said they devoted time each day at practice to focus on Alabama (not the entire practice, but at least a few minutes each day). For sure, in the past, they have rested players who could have helped them win games to ensure they were in peak shape for Alabama. The Alabama game is their whole season, no holding back. Also note Auburn players trying to start shite in the game hoping to get Alabama players suspended for the SEC championship game.

Tupelo: Have heard the same about players but only from other bama fans. Would love to find a quote or reference from player/coach/staffer somewhere in writing that I could reference. My Auburn friends don't believe it, but I've been hearing it for many years now and it seems true given how they become world beaters after shatting the bed half the season. They've done this numerous times over the years.

They spent the entire month preparing for Alabama. They had MSU, Vandy and a bad Arkansas team before NMSU.

bamatide07: don't doubt it! Aub coaches know they can go 6-6 or 7-5 every year almost, as long as they beat Bama regularly.

Probably some during the cupcake week prior, but to think they spend any valuable SEC time prepping for Bama is absurd.
But, I could be wrong. I is awdarn we are discussing here.

not just this years barn. malzahn did it. freeze did it at OM. jimbo did it. in fairness to all of them, beating Bama was probably 90 percent of the discussion when they interviewed.

ngl, I thought after the New Mexico State game I thought that they skipped practicing for them and had spent the week focusing on Bama

Pretty clear now that's what they did.

Alabama is the focus at Auburn. When they have workouts, their extra rep is called “The Bama Rep.” That’s been going on for multiple coaches over there.

True. At least they used to during the Chiz and MalZahn era. Had a nephew who played for them and he told me so!

Not the entire season, at least not in 2023.
However, it is funny how the boog die hards were saying the loss to New Mexico State would be unforgivable, even with an “Iron Bowl” win.
Now that they have suffered such a tragic “Iron Bowl” loss, it is okay that their Auburn Football team was practicing solely for BAMA that week because they were bound for a shitty bowl anyway?
BAMA needs to stop even recognizing “Iron Bowl” as a thing. Stop merchandising it. Shug Jordan gave it that name in a down year for Auburn Football, and he died long ago.
And maybe their beloved trees would still be alive if Patrick Fain Dye, UGA piece of shite, had left the damn rivalry in Birmingham?? Maybe not.
Smothering trees with paper products made from trees seems cruel, especially for an agricultural school that pretends to be holier than everyone in the conference while hiring show cause coaches with impunity. Harvey saved “the oaks” from choking to death.
WHOOPS, back to football…..
What has AU netted since moving the game to the pasture in 1989, exactly? They have won 3 times while BAMA was undefeated (1989, 2013, 2017). You can argue that in 2013 and 2019, AU cost BAMA a shot at playing for a National Championship. (1989 was bowl system— BAMA still made the Sugar). So twice in the modern era. The dipshits couldn’t even parlay the “Kick Six” into a National Championship.
So, no, they do not practice for BAMA. They build their entire program around beating Alabama on the football field. Thus the “Iron Bowl” moniker. It’s crap they named and adopted back when Shug Jordan thought he had equal footing.
It is beyond time for the “Iron Bowl” moniker to die.
Auburn Football can burn in hell along with it, forever. RMFT

I came to this conclusion as well after the 1stQ of the Iron Bowl. Clearly they didn't scheme anything for New Mexico St and they were totally focused on Bama

I’m sure they did. I’m sure Alabama did, as well, during their week of preparation for Chattanooga. I’m sure everyone does it when there’s a cupcake (perceived) game in front of a rivalry game.
