The voodoo was a coach who schemed a running game to destroy our run defense and another who didn't make the adjustments. Steele was two steps behind, defensive ends pancaked, linebackers avoiding contact.
And where were Oatis and Kennan while they were running on us? Alot of the time, on the bench.
The voodoo was Jalen Milroe (who I normally love as a QB) making two incredibly stupid decisions by crossing the line of scrimmage and the throwing the ball.
In the first instance, he would probably have picked up the first had he just run.
So Jalen regressed in that he relapsed into a tentative runner. Nine times in that game, Jalen had wide open lanes to run, but hung in the pocket for an extended time.
He had found the sweet spot between hanging in the pocket and taking off and running. Last night he lost it.
We have to face the fact that this was a lousy AUBURN team and needing luck to win isn't about voodoo it about, sadly, a slow, sort of imperceptible decline in this program.
Saban is slowing down. The intensity. The mental acuity ... they are dissipating
But the fact is, there are about 7 teams ranked ahead of us now that have inferior talent but utilize their talent more effectively because they have better coaching.
Bama had more players than you realized.
BAMA HAS AN NFL PLAYER AT EVERY POSITION.
We have lost track of that. We discuss these problems without seeing it.

One last thing about Milroe. Milroe is an incredible weapon. But it is common knowledge that he wants to be a pure pocket passer. He's probably been told all his life that "they" always try to make black quarterbacks run the ball and "they" want to use his legs at the expense of an NFL career. That "they" question his mental acuity and ability to be an NFL QB.
But the fact is, no one has explained to him that the NFL WANTS A QB with his physical attributes now. It's no longer "be a running quarterback or be an NFL quarterback". Someone needs to explain to him that being an incredible duel threat means being a #1 draft pick, while reluctantly using his physical gifts limits his future.

This happens every game at JHS like clockwork. We all knew this was going to be tough, no matter what Auburn's record is.
Had it been in T-Town, Bama wins easily.

This is what the people who were screaming we'd go 0 for Texas and drop at least 2 if not more of LSU, UT, Ole Miss, and Auburn and finish at best 8-4 but probably worse are reduced to now.
Trying to use a struggle win in a rivalry game where records rarely matter to desperately cling to their prediction that Saban is losing it and going down the Bowden/Paterno road.
Just face it. We could lose by double digits next week in the SEC championship and this would still be one of the best coaching jobs Saban has ever done. But enjoy wallowing in your misery and continue the ridiculous doomsaying.

Well since we have all the talent in place, I disagree.
We have quality wideouts. We have a quality qb with unlimited potential. We have explosive backs and a offensive line that came in out of shape and has played its way into shape.
On defense, I see eleven future NFL players if we play the right guys.

There have been 35 meetings since the game went home-and-home in 1989. During that stretch, Auburn has won 5 times in Tuscaloosa or Birmingham. They've won 10 times in Auburn.
In the Tuscaloosa wins, Alabama was the higher ranked team once. In the 10 JHS wins, Alabama was the higher ranked team 6 times with 4 of them being times Alabama was ranked in the top 5. Those upsets happened across 4 different Alabama coaching staffs including two with national championship statues outside BDS.
Call it Voodoo or whatever else you want, but since that time Auburn has brought more intensity to this game in JHS than any other other one they play regardless of location. The fact that Alabama has been able to persevere and still win most of the games in that environment is a testament to the staffs rather than an indictment of them.

Yep, during the Saban era we’ve only had one truly dominant win down there, which was 2011. 2015 stayed close but we rode Henry and built a gap late. The rest have been close wins (2009, 2021, and 2023) or losses (2007, 2013, 2017 and 2019).

You act as if Michigan has Arkansas level recruiting classes, which is laughably false. Year in and year out, they rank better than most of the SEC.
With that out of the way, let's look at how Michigan did this year against teams with a pulse in "hostile" environments. They beat Penn State by 9 in a game where they threw 8 passes and had 287 yards of offense and they beat Maryland by 7 in a game where they had 291 yards of total offense and scored 11 defensive points.
Your notion that Michigan is vastly better coached and only held back by some perceived talent gap is easily objectively disproven by their poor performances against teams where they enjoy a large talent advantage.
Further, they've feasted against very bad teams. They've played 3 P5 teams with winning records. All three were close, competitive games Michigan pulled out in the end. Saturday was Alabama's SEVENTH game against a P5 team with a winning record.
So, to wrap it up, "Give Michigan our roster" is hilarious. Their talent isn't bad, it's top two or three in their conference and better than most of the SEC yet when they reach the postseason and face teams of similar or even lesser talent (South Carolina 2017, Florida 2018, TCU 2021), they lose and often badly.

Been questioning for years..does Saban put enough emphasis on the Auburn game? Or is something with the Tgiving week and players out of school that throws off the prep?
It is real frustrating Bama never comes out and dominates like it should against the inferior opponent. Meanwhile AU brings a lot more intensity and focus and generally plays their best. We have dominated a few at home (2008, 2012, 2018 and 2020) but the majority of these matchups are too close.
