They are seriously discussing a rumor about Nick Saban retiring at the end of this season. Anyone know what’s going on with this?

I saw Wimp at Thompson High School last night. I should have asked him.

Saban already addressed this.

You sure they weren't discussing Tuscaloosa Academy basketball?

I was in and out of the truck and thought they were talking about how they knew who was going to be the new A&M coach. That was the big scoop anyway.

There’s a good amount of smoke right now regarding a potential… issue…

About a month ago someone around the university mentioned that retirement may come sooner than expected (no reason mentioned). Initially blew it off, but this week an entirely unrelated person in the booster circle mentioned rumors of a specific problem that supports and could lead to that assumption

It’s something that may prompt Saban to retire earlier than he planned if true, but from the inclination I got it wasn’t a matter of this year but within 2-3 years

It’s been speculated every year. At some point it’s going to be right. I think Saban buying the mansion in South Florida and now buying businesses down there probably adds to the speculation for this year.

Regardless I think it’s probably a safe bet that he’s not got more than a couple seasons left, even if he’s back next year.

Wealthy people often invest in real estate. It's not uncommon for wealthy people to have multiple homes in different states/countries. Saban may eventually settle in Florida, but buying a home in and of itself doesn't mean anything more than Saban buying a vacation home at which he can go fishing.

I don't see how this has anything to do with him moving to Florida and retiring. Dream Motor Group owns dealerships in: LA, TX, TN, AL, and FL.

Does that mean Saban is also moving back to LA, or is he going to take the A&M job in TX? Maybe he's going to move to TN and hang out with fat Phil!

Sure, these could be signs that point to an imminent retirement, but it honestly just looks like a rich dude investing wisely.

If it's the medical condition with Miss Terry then it isn't true. Also heard that one a few times and somebody who knows said it flat out wasn't true.
