It seems when it comes to football, the big money is using a wait and see approach before going all Aggie that would be very risky, very stupid.
That isn't the case with basketball and baseball when both have coaches that are proven winners and it is a much better investment than football.

Nothing happened to his money. It's just that Jim Steven's has more.

Yep. He wrote a big check for Arkansas only because he liked Nolan Richardson.

It goes back much earlier than the 80s.

Yeah, I always wondered about that. You’d see things saying that Rane was the richest man in the state. EBSCO owns so many things, it’s wild. I always figured that Elton’s fortune was more spread out amongst the family. Guess not.

You are probably right. I just referenced the 80s because it’s the earliest documented instances that I could recall offhand

Bud Walton is dead. His heirs don't give a shite about Arkansas football.
Bud Waltons daughter Nancy married Bill Laurie. They both grew up in Versailles, Mo not to far from Columbia. They both went to college at Memphis. He played basketball and around 5 other family members have played there. There nephew played basketball for a year at Mizzou.
Nancy and Bill give a lot of money to Memphis and Missouri. They gave $25 million to build Mizzou Arena.
They donated $10 million to Memphis for Laurie-Walton Family Basketball Center.

Got to admit, seeing college students making 2x to 3x what I make.. as a student, playing a game for fun.. where they can only win 1 SEC game.. and spend half time watching the Polar Express.. is just fricked up.

There are 15 CBs making over 418K in NIL?!! What the frick!

Purely from an NIL perspective having the richest 5 alums don’t matter.
Having tens of thousands of wealthy alums is much more important. The depth of the well is what matters.
