Love and appreciate Eli, but he just doesn’t have the fire and excitement anymore. Here is the video with the audio of Eli’s call:

Just awful. No excitement whatsoever. Chris Stewart’s call would’ve torn the paint off the wall. He honestly should’ve been shuffled off the broadcast after his putrid 2nd & 26 call.

Time for Eli to retire. Give him a spot on the pregame and some honorary title.

Eli doesn't bring it anymore.
Professional and all, but largely blah.

Time for Eli to retire

Chris Stewart or another person needs to do the calls

Eli is too tired to continue doing this. His calls lack energy and enthusiasm.

Who would be the best replacement?

Eli has been tired for a while now. Go back and listen to his call in the 2018 CFP Final on 2nd & 26. The Spanish broadcasters were clearly more excited than he was.

Even as frail and old as he looks right now his voice is still incredibly powerful.

He’s a Bama legend deserves to go out when he’s ready. Respect it. Stewart understands that as well.

Eli don’t got that juice anymore. He needs to retire and focus on his health.

The last call of his that I remember having some real emotion was Yeldon’s screen pass reception for TD in 2012 at lsu.

When CBS did their "Hometown" segment (or whatever they call it) and played Eli's call of one of Milroe's TDs, he did sound tired and flat.

Chris Stewart is on a different level for sure, he's one of the best out there, but I don't make the decisions. I've never been a huge Eli Gold fan as far as commentating, but I respect the guy, and if they feel like he should go out on his own terms, then so be it.

Eli should be allowed to call it quits whenever he wants. Similar to Saban. Y’all get off the man’s back. Dude is a legend

Didn’t say he should be forced into retirement, but as long as he is holding the position then he is able to be criticized. You can’t tell me that he has the same passion in his calls as he did 10+ years ago.

I've had more excitement over a bowel movement. That was really, really bad. It's time for retirement.
