Just gonna put my opinion out there.
Francis won that fight 96-93 imo.
Not saying it was the biggest robbery in sports but Boxing is soooo rig and why I stopped watching anything other then the big fights.

Not Auburn related but I'm impressed that a dude who's been boxing for months almost beat the heavy weight champion. It's an unbelievable story. Francis is a monster

You know these fights aren't real right?

You're right man lol Also The NBA draft lottery is rigged, The NFL games are scripted, the moon landing never happened, the Earth is flat, and lee Harvey did NOT act alone. I would say more, but I don't want to walk off the side of the planet while texting lolololol

Did anyone watch the fight besides me? It for those interested in sports. Yeah I get it moar sports board blah blah.
Was a huge sporting event that absolutely was rigged. Francis won that fight. I don’t even like Francis but he won the fight

I only saw highlights but that's just common with boxing. You have to completely KO the champion because the judges WILL cheat or show favoritism.

quote:I watch more fights than is probably healthy for one person lol. There is def an argument that Francis won that fight. Most online talk is that most people think he won. At the vest least he walked away looking like a star.

I never watch fights, but given the light slate of football games I suppose it was a good night for boxing.

I’ve made it pretty clear I’m a huge mma/ufc fan. Never miss a fight night, a ppv, the ultimate fighter, Dana whites contender series. Speaking of Dana White’s contender Series is the best show on TV.
I was a huge boxing fan growing up. I got to see the greats Forman, Ali, Holmes, Mike Tyson. I ventured away when Fedor made his rise around 2007-08 to mma however I had watched casually for years. But been locked in since Fedor.
But every big boxing event is a complete shite show. Rigged even on the under cards. So I still enjoy the sport but it’s bullshite. I watched Canello absolutely beat the shite out of Floyd Mayweather and the judges give it Mayweather. I’ve watch Anthony Joshua be given fights over and over. And I watched yesterday Francis win 6 rounds of the 10 and add to it one of was a 10-8 must by the knock down. Hell I think the 8th may have been a 10-8 as well. Francis beat him up bad.
Anyway rant off. Francis can fight anyone of the big dogs now and make big bucks and still possibly get a rematch against Tyson Fury.
I’ll go back to my UFC MMA bubble

Corch, it was an exhibition. Just like Connor and Floyd and all these Paul brother fights. You think one of the Paul brothers could go the distance with Floyd Mayweather in a real fight? Come on dude. These fights are for two guys to make a boatload of money off dummies and spar for a few rounds with a pre-determined winner. They couldn't make it any more obvious for you. Enjoy it for what it is or don't watch it at all.

It wasn't an exhibition. So obviously you have no clue what you are talking about.
Posted on 10/31/23 at 8:49 am to CorchJay
Then what was it exactly? Belts weren't on the line, Fury has a real heavyweight fight in like 6 weeks. You can use whatever term you want but it was for two guys to put on a little show and make a lot of money doing it. Did you think one of the Paul brothers legitimately went the distance with Floyd?

Yes was a real fight but belt wasn’t on the line. A belt created by the Saudi’s was on the line but not the lineal belt.
Like I said obviously you have no idea what you are talking about so not sure why you are debating me. Was absolutely not an exhibition fight. Was not a staged fight.
And to answer your question about the Paul brothers fighting Mayweather I’m sure they would do fine since they walk around about 75 pounds more then Floyd. That’s the issue I have with the Paul brothers fights they fight real fights as well but generally fight guys that are about 5’9” 170lbs but fight at 185 so they cut down and the others fight up in weight plus the only striker they have faced is Tommy Fury and lost. And those aren’t sanctioned events in most of the boxing world.
Completely different from this weekend. Francis is the biggest physically boxer Fury has ever fought and the leaning on him and clinching didn’t work. Francis just to big and ragdolled Fury in the clinch and landed some nasty strikes. Put it this way Fury was so frustrated he threw and landed an elbow.
So I ask again did you watch the fight? Obviously you don’t know it was a real sanctioned fight not an exhibition. In WBC Francis will be ranked in the top 10 of heavyweights after 1 fight and a 0-1 record. Should tell you everything you need to know about the fight

We will agree to disagree, cheers brother

Did you watch the fight? If you didn’t not sure what you are even disagreeing with.
I watched the fight and watch combat sports a lot. Been a long time boxing fan but the shite judging has turned me off and this weekend proved everything wrong with boxing. And no it’s not just me or people duped into thinking it was a “real” fight. Everyone has the same opinion that Francis won. Very few think Fury won. These are casual fans, boxing fans, and mma fans. Only advantage Fury had was compubox numbers. That takes just punches landed whether that be a a slight graze or a solid punch. Francis lit Fury up. Francis was scared and got walked down the entire fight. Francis didn’t react to Fury’s feints and Fury could never get a read on the defense to attack and to scared to engage in counter punching

I did not only highlights, again my opinion is that it's nothing more than a money making venture and not an actual contest. The fact Fury won despite everyone thinking he should have lost only furthers my point it was all predetermined. This way they both come out looking good and he can focus on his actual fight coming up with usyk.

This is the only thing I've been concerned with regarding the fight. Usyk says they have a contract signed for fight in December but Fury's manager said after the fight that its unlikely now since he will need to heal. If I'm Usyk, I would have pitched a big fit for him even taking a fight that close to one that was already signed to take place a couple months later. I'd make him take the fight or give me almost, if not all, of his purse for the December fight.
Does anyone think the Usyk fight will take place in December? Will it happen at all if he refuses the December date? I'd really like to see a heavyweight hold all 4 major belts again.

Watched the whole thing.
Francis would have needed to KO or TKO Fury to win.
Fury won some rounds with the Jab, but Francis was bludgeoning Fury all evening.
Makes you wonder where Francis would be right now if he started boxing exclusively 5-6 years ago.
What could the plan for Fury even be? Go straight into camp for a month? Crazy. That Usyk fight needs to be more like March... because yea there's no way Fury fights Usyk in 6-8 weeks.

I don't know. Here is something I came across that doesn't really make it clear. I read it as the FN fight was signed first since it uses the term "since" in the sentence.
quote:
It was announced after confirmation of Fury-Ngannou that Fury had also since signed to fight Usyk in what remains the most significant fight that can be made.
quote:
“It has to take place on the 23rd of December, in Riyadh, in Saudi Arabia,” the Ukrainian, at 36 narrowly older than his 35-year-old rival, said. “We have it in contract – on paper.
Either way, I doubt the fight even happens now after the the shape he arrived for the FN fight and then how he got worked in the fight.
