I hope today’s match was a good experience, especially for Stevenson. If he had stayed in high school, it would have been difficult to experience this level of defense and offense. I would say today's game is a good example of reclassification.

Agreed, but I bet the experience he’s getting in practice is probably even more valuable.

We’ve had guys choosing Bama football due to the competition/coaching in practice for many years. Looks like we are beginning to have that in Bball too and it may even grow after this season’s historic offensive numbers.

What Oats has done this year is amazing.

Lost his entire staff and returned 3 players with 1 year experience at Bama.

The guy is a phenomenal coach

Maybe we should take all the money we were going to use on a building and use jt to keep Oats here. That could get expensive.

Because if we lose him and go back to the quality of coaching we had before, the new building won't mean anything.

Yep. His development has been obvious from the season's start. Everything from his confidence to court awareness. But getting in game intensity and pressure at this level is priceless. We'll cuss his name a few more times in this thread during games. But he's coming along as well as you could hope.

I'm hoping that he truly loves the area, and doesn't want too move his kids at their current ages. We sure as hell better not let it come down to salary. Pay him whatever he wants. NBA is a different ball game. But if we're gonna be serious about basketball, we can't allow him to leave unless it's his dream job. He's already shown he can get elite talent to Bama. Next year's class is as good as you could want anywhere.

Outside of the 4-5 big time schools which would be his dream job. Kansas is set, Duke is set, NC is set. Kent is the only one that is questionable and if they make a run in the dance they would be idiots to fire Cal. Syracuse has a new coach

Michigan State when Izzo retires is the one I'm watching and I think Louisville will make a huge run at him this year.

Not worried about any colleges, even the blue bloods, unless we don’t build the Arena soon, fall behind on NIL, or lose Greg as AD for some reason.

The NBA is a totally different story, and we need the arena built before he scratches that itch if we want to land another quality coach.

Not being snide here, but I dont think most fans understand just how the scope of CBB has changed in the last 10 years. I stated in like 2012 this would happen.

1.) I stated that the CFB money would eventually put the better CFB schools in a position to get the best CBB coaches moneywise. Oates was not gotten like that per se, but he can be kept because the CFB schools have the monies now.

2.) Why would any modern day coach leave for Duke, Syracuse, Kentucky, Mich., UCLA, UN C etc. when you can make just as much at Bama, Auburn, LSU, and not have near the pressure to win, if Bama or Auburn goes 9-9 in conference a couple of years the fans will not be all over you, plus the money is just as good.

3. The NIL, Transfer portal, has created a situation where just a few clubs will not be able to "Back door cheat" by paying the AAU guys to steer players to a certain school, now the players themselves can go to the highest bidder so to speak, who has the money? Football schools. Who has the far better facilities? Football schools. Dukes facilities compared to Bama's or Texas AM are like Junior High vs. High School.

We need the stadium, we are filling the arena, we need to pounce while the iron is hot, the only think killing us is these high interest rates and inflation brought on by the Senile In-Chief in Wash. DC. I do not think Nate wants to go anywhere. He has made us a top Basketball school and destination.

Kansas is down 9. They are the lowest two-seed and one spot above us

Almost as much as guys who write walls of text and yet can’t spell the name of the head coach correctly.

Sabin and Kiffen are not amused.

Tie game, under 30 seconds, LSU defensive miscommunication leads to a shootaround 3. South Carolina is a good bad team and LSU is a bad good team.

It gets better. South Carolina gets tied up in the corner and gives it right back, then fouls on a drive. LSU now up 1.

Basketball is a game of momentum. Lots of teams have winning and losing streaks. Is OSU actually 14 points better than AL on a neutral court? No, but they were hot and on a winning streak. Now, they are pretty bad. USCe had an easy non-conference schedule and have gotten on a streak for a few games in a row against good conference opponents. They also lost to us by 27, lost to UGA at home, barely beat Missouri twice (once in OT), have played one of the easiest conference schedules to date, and are ranked 44th in the metrics despite a 21-3 record for a reason. AL and USCe aren’t on the same level, despite what you think the records say this far into the conference season. They will lose at least 3 of the next 7, and I’ll come back and eat crow if they don’t.

Feeling pretty safe on this one. USCe may join USCw and sit this NCAAT out if they aren’t careful.
