Tommy Rees...

He called what I thought was another good game. Some folks might say he didn't but that's because Jalen Milroe missed so many reads.
His check downs was open, tight ends running free, and options for Milroe to run the ball.
Milroe missed guys wide open all game.
Take time to go back and watch the game and people will see that Tommy Rees called a good game. Was it great, the best, or perfect? No! But he did good.

My biggest gripe with Rees is our scripted drives to start the game.
Zero creativity. Zero motion. Just bland vanilla horseshite.

I’m not watching that first half again.
Milroe I’m sure does him no favors at times but he also is downright bad at times.

That's part of the issue when trying to evaluate Rees as an OC.
Milroe has missed reads, the OL has missed protection calls, and RBs have missed open holes. So yeah, you can criticize Rees because maybe he's not calling plays to overcome those known issues, but if all 11 guys execute his play calls without mistakes, our stats might look a lot different.

I could be happy with the progress if we could have better scripted plays to start a game. But he sure brought the tool box out in the second half

He needs to bring the tool box for 60 minutes.

Easy for me and anyone else to get pissed off. But we have to remember this is his first year at Bama and he’s still getting his feet wet with Milroe. If you met Tommy at a bar drunk as shite he might actually tell you how painful it is trying to call a game with a QB that is very limited and scares the hell out of you with each drop back.

Lots of people warned the board about his bland play calling when he was hired. I was not one of those people but there were many of them.

2 primary things for me.
his opening script is horrible.
his insistence on runs up the middle on first down. keeping bama consistently behind the chains

He had a very bad first half then just like the previous games we made significant adjustments to his playcalling and it changed things up.
He needs to do better. So does Milroe and the OL.
It starts with him though because he is the offense leader and we are a different team when we play creatively than when we play like a Midwestern team.

He's an improvement over O'Brien. I think it's impressive how often he's scheming guys wide open. I think that Milroe's lack of progress has to fall at least a little on Rees though. Coaching should be able to clean up that footwork.

He’s no Kiffin or Sark, but he’s way better than BOB

Milroe missed basic stuff that the OC goes over with him daily. That's on Milroe not Rees.
I've seen more guys run WIDE OPEN then I've ever did with BOB.

That's definitely true. For whatever reason, BoB's route trees were a disaster.

He does have a lot of guys open so he is a good playcaller. He does call a lot of boneheaded plays especially in the run game but I believe he is a quality OC, he just needs to be more imaginative in the run game.
Still I would take him over Bill O'Brien any day of the week.

Without a doubt

Let's not forget this team makes a shite ton of mental mistakes.
It's hard to have complex plays when we can't mentally handle the simple/vanilla plays.
With that being said; it was nice that we weren't a crazy penalized team today.
