Game day traffic from Birmingham to Tuscaloosa for an 11:00 kickoff--

I've driven through there a ton of time for a night game in Baton Rouge when Alabama has had a 2:30 kickoff and traffic isn't too bad at all around 8-9.
Hitting Tuscaloosa around 9 for an 11 kick? Bumper to bumper or not too bad?

To me 11:00 kickoffs always has the worst traffic because everyone is getting there at the same time. The night games everyone is coming in throughout the day.

It will be pretty packed.

It's awful. If you leave at 9 you might make it but it will be close.

I probably didn't word my question very well. I am just driving through Tuscaloosa down 59-20 en route to Baton Rouge for the Auburn-LSU kickoff. I was curious how congested the interstate would still be in Tuscaloosa around 9 a.m.

While typically true, there could also be some variation this week because it's homecoming.
Absurdly, the parade starts at 7:00am (line up at 5:00am).
How many sorority girls are we wagering stay up and pull an all-nighter?

True, but with a night game, you get everyone leaving at the same time.

Congested as hell - go an alternate route due West on county roads if needed to avoid that shite.

It’ll be slow - like 40-50 mph - but barring a wreck it should move fairly smooth. It’s only the stretch from the I-459 junction to Tuscaloosa you need to worry about. Once you pass McFarland and go under the arch it’ll be smooth sailing.

We are staying in Hoover for the Alabama-LSU game. Friday and Saturday night. Should we not take 59?

This. Use Waze. Sometimes I will get off the interstate just to try and avoid idiots.

459 to 20/59. Use Waze. Backroads will occasionally be quicker.

Take 59. It will be busy both directions. Just go early. (Don't try to get off at McFarland, though). Go through Cottondale or past McFarland to Lurleen Wallace.

Get off at the Mercedes exit turn left to get on Hwy 11 to Cottondale then veer left on to Skyland then at the end get back on 20/59. It's out of the way but you'll miss all that heavy traffic.
