Getting a little better every week and showing some mental toughness

All you can ask at this point. Milroe showed improvement in expanding his passing repertoire and accuracy in the intermediate range (still struggling on short throws - crossers and swings). He's gonna make some mistakes (leaving the pocket, misread some coverages, late throws) but if he keeps improving he's gonna make a bunch of good ones too. Defense made plays - the 2 play safety possession was the most old school Alabama defensive possession I've seen from us in crunch time since the glory years. Halftime adjustments were evident and successful on both sides of the ball. Some dudes are clearly taking on leadership roles and there is some clear improvement and development for the first time in years (DL, LB, WR, QB).
I'm still unsure of what to make of the OL - they were great in pass protection outside of 3rd and long (which is nearly impossible against that front). However, we were almost exclusively in 3rd and long because they had the most undisciplined pre-snap performance any of us have ever seen. Run game stunk, but I'm not sure the staff thought we could run on them based on timing and run types. They aren't a disaster anymore, but they're still not as good as they should be.
Losing Malachi and Burnip hurts. Hopefully we get them both back by LSU.
Got through a tough 3 game stretch post-Texas still alive for the playoffs and very much looking like a player in the conference title race. Need to take care of business this weekend against Arkansas and then it's time for the mini revenge tour.
Row Tahd.
PS - Can somebody hack EthanHunt's account? That'd be great thnx.

SOG - great points, I agree with you completely. Need some optimism for this team, they’re clearly improving and the ceiling is very high. Let’s see if they can climb the mountain.
I think you could also see Coach’s demeanor in the post game was downright jubilant minus all the mistakes. I think he has seen something in this team post-Texas that fires him up.

Damn. The board won't know who Tommy Rees is jizzing on any longer.
He was the board's Jizz Paparazzi

Milroe isn't a bad QB. I'm actually starting to get retroactively pissed about him losing the starting job against South Florida. He didn't play a snap in that game. He might be further along in his development if he had.

Now it’s all about improving and executing. Stop the stupid penalties. The turnovers.
Would love to see a complete game vs Arkansas. That would show definite signs of a team ascending.
Milroe made throws I didn’t know he had in him when it comes to precision. That 3rd and 14 dime to Burton in the endzone was incredible. Went through his progressions while under duress…then throws a strike slightly off his back foot. Big time.

If we can stop making 3rd and manageables turn into 3rd and Longs with pre snap penalties we are gonna be really fricking good.
Defense is legit.
Defense is legit.

The turnovers.
Said it yesterday, but the play call on the Milroe INT was excellent.
Hope we see it again down the road. Just make sure to execute it better.

Won’t be playing at Kyle Field again this year so hopefully we won’t see those types of mistakes again…at least not until we go to Lexington and Jordan Hare. Hopefully it’ll be cleaned up by then.

The throw was there but he lobbed it instead of zooming it in there and allowed the DB to get there. I liked the play

Throw wasn't there IMO. That safety didn't bite and was sitting on that. He couldn't lob it over the top because Niblack wasn't running hard up the field He was running looking back waiting for the pass.
Milroe needed to come off Niblack and throw the deep out strong side which had only one CB guarding Burton (if I remember correctly) and Burton had him beat out of his cut.
That would have been a TD

I wonder who he will come back as next.

The O-line needs confidence. They need to go out and dominate for a few games and get out of their own heads. Once that happens the procedure penalties will get cleaned up.
Defense is, indeed, legit.

With our defense, Milroe played well enough to win, made some good throws (particularly deep ones, he always gives our receivers a chance which Hurts rarely seemed to do throwing 5-7 yds too long on deep throws), and did a good job of focusing on the next play.
He didn’t quite get to the 30 points I was hoping to be proven wrong about, but 26 deserves a half portion of crow at this point. If he beats UGA in Atl, full portion of crow will be in order.
There were still some bad throws, misreads (particularly on overloaded blitzes), and doesn’t seem to check out of bad plays when the D tips their hand. The A&M DC helped him out with the 3-man-rush zone coverage that Bond was wide open on, and Milroe needs to keep getting better each week if we want to win a trophy. However, with his beautiful deep passes and speed to pick up 1sts when guys are covered, I can see how the coaches think he is the QB to try and grow with. I just hope he learns to read a blitz soon, and Rees starts using screens and hot routes to counter it. Right now it seems binary on blitzes: if we pick it up it’s a long pass for a big gain, and if we don’t it’s a sack. We’re going to face better secondaries at some point this season (like Texas’s) and will need a better plan of attack.
Overall, that was a big win and huge game by the defense! Inside track to Atl, so let’s take care of business each week on these games we should win. Roll Tide!

I noticed Lawson was chewing out Turner after that boneheaded blindside on the FG block. We have missed the Dawg at MLB lately.

Malachi was also chewing someone out after the blown coverage allowed the A&M TD pass to their tight end.
