Chips are down: Have you made up your mind on Brian Kelly?

Do you think the trajectory of the LSU program will have sustained long term success under the stewardship of Brian Kelly?
It is my opinion that Brian struck gold with Jayden Daniels. If not for Daniels, the seat would be screaming hot right now even with such an iron clad contract.
The Alabama win last year, as sweet as it was, is seemingly more and more the outlier than what to expect from Kelly.

He’s like most coaches. He’s good.
But I don’t think he can win a championship. Most don’t or won’t yet the salaries would say otherwise.

I think he's a Solid CFB Coach. Not Elite but Solid. Less than solid coaches have had success here and he probably will as well.
The problem is LSU is Paying for Elite not Solid.

To be fair, most of the power 5 schools are all overpaying.

I think he is undoubtedly a better coach than Ed O, who won a championship there.
"Could he" vs "Will he?" is the kicker. "could" removes a lot of variables. The answer to "will he?" could change after a particularly bad week.
IMO he obviously could. I'm pretty torn on the "will" portion, but leaning no.

That's a very broad assessment. Is being better than O having a higher floor year to year (hopefully the wheels never fall off the program like under O)
Because I do not see Kelly winning a championship at LSU. I do see more 9-10 win season sustainably if afforded the time.

I think you can just look at the resumes of both guys and pretty safely say Kelly is a much better coach at the football aspect. Notre Dame wasn't devoid of talent, but there is an obvious ceiling there in terms of the level of the team you can put together in the modern era and he was consistently good and made the playoff.
Its not even a discussion if the Burrow season didn't happen. And O does get some credit for helping put that team together, sure.

Don’t y’all worry your little hearts. Brian just needs a little fahmuhlee time. He is going to row his pirogue over the St Charles river. Go see Mawmaw down in Braintree. She’ll cook him up a Cajun classic dish, boiled salted beef and cabbage.
They’ll comeback fightin like a gator with a rotten tooth.

I don't follow LSU super close, but it seems some fans are not happy with his recruiting.
Not sure what that's all about, but if there's merit to their complaints, that is concerning for his prospects in the 3-5 year range.

He reminds me of Tuberville. Kelly lacks the coldness to pull a guy when it is obvious he can't elevate a team. Daniels ain't it at QB.

The same as it always was. He is gonna win a couple he probably shouldn't, he's gonna drop a couple he shouldn't. He reminds me so much of Bill Curry in that aspect.
LSU is gonna be good under Kelly but not the program LSU fans think. 9-ish, 10-ish wins a year.

I made up my mind about him long before he was hired at LSU. Was not a good hire by that program.
However, LSU has become Auburn 2.0 so simply beating Bama and keeping them out of the playoffs will be enough to buy him 3-4 seasons.

to be a head coach at lsu is simple.........recruit the best........set yourself up with the two best coordinators.......pop your lawn chair up at practice and enjoy.

It never gets talked about on here, but he took a team with only 35 scholarship players last year and only lost 4 or 5 games. If he can do that in the first year, imagine what he can do when he gets his players in.

What concerns me about him is the blank stare when things are going bad, the inability to address those issues while these are occurring.

Poor Auburn fan has seen such terrible QB play the past few years that he has forgotten what good QBs look like.
