biggest drawback with Beck vs Stet is the lack of running ability. Beck isn't slow but Stet was a legit running threat. Beck doesn't seem to like to run and doesn't have any break away speed. I wonder if they have considered rotating in Brock to keep the D off balance? We tried that with Fields, but it just seemed out of sync. Auburn really mixed it up with qb's.

Stet was a better runner, had a better grasp of the offense, was elite at reading defenses pre snap, and throwing players open.

Beck is taller and has a stronger arm. He seems to be growing into his role and can improve on some of the above talents that Stet had. He doesn’t have to run, just get better a sliding from pressure and getting the ball to someone who can.

I think mixing in a couple or 3 designed QB runs per game would be a good idea at this point. But not necessarily with another QB, it has to Beck doing it, or it won't work.

Beck is improving on layering his throws.
Stet was elite at getting the ball up and down.
I can't emphasize enough how difficult it is to do that at all 3 levels.

I'm guessing. But I think Carson's issue is post snap recognition (middle of field open or closed).
It could be a result of coaching keys. Or it could be his eyes not focused long enough on the defense before getting through his reads (he reads so quickly, that I'm guessing he takes shortcuts).
More snaps and more film will only help in this regard. (That and some public comments from Kirby. Lol)

One more memory....
One of the complaints about Stet was underthrowing receivers.
The "duh" response is that if you are going to miss a throw, it is better to be underthrown versus overthrown.
Carson can will learn this lesson before the season is out.
It is better to be blasted publicly for a 45 yard completion than a very long incompletion.

You are an angry human being. Somehow you believe yourself superior of character and intellect to everyone you encounter in life. Probably think of yourself as an Alfalfa…er Alpha…or at least you want everyone on an anonymous message board to believe that’s what you think of yourself. Alfalfa is probably closer to the truth. You get completely unhinged by challenges to your position on literally ANY subject. That is not strength of character or intellect. It is reverting to base (meaning crude and unsophisticated) human behavior. Name calling and over the top rebuttals do not indicate any of the characteristics you would like to have people believe you possess. It’s all good though. Your “Alfalfa” personality type won’t allow you to take the critique without coming back hard in the paint. Just know that I and many other have been laughing at you this whole time and will continue to do so.
I’ve never seen so much irony in my life. LOL

If hyperbole was a talent, you’d be a gotdamned rockstar wordsmith. And by the way, your self-awareness is hilariously bad. Good luck with that.

I get the vibe that you think we have a better alternative to Beck on our roster right now, and that Beck isn't doing enough to help us win. Am I wrong in that feeling?

Ome of the other things I think a lot of fans miss is how you throw a ball in zone vs man and especially when there is man in trail. In the latter, the receiver has the advantage in both adjusting to the ball and to draw PI. Your odds of a good play go up putting it in a catchable spot vs trying to fly it right over the man in trail with the receiver in stride.

Adding to my above statement, I think they are coaching Beck up on this and he will continue to improve as he gets more comfortable with the timing, recognition, and with his receivers.

I don’t know. I think we are probably past that window. It takes several games to build confidence and not play like you’re having to prove you’re the guy every down. When you’re in that mode, when you’re desperate, you make mistakes. Every nanosecond is a decision followed by a second-guess, and the mind isn’t working with efficiency, clear intellect, or clear vision.

BVG and Stocton can’t be trying to work past that in the games ahead. The teams coming up aren’t quite the scrubs as the 5 teams we just played.

So I think we’re probably forced to settle as is. But that doesn’t mean we can’t still discuss facts, truths, and opinions.

Beck has had enough time that if he was past that phase we would all know it by now. Stetson got past it and never looked back.

Anyone who says they believe Beck is there, and that Beck himself also believes he’s there, is lying to himself.

I hope that last game is the fuel that sparks that run your thinking of. That “it” factor. I hear what you’re sayin. If Beck balls out on UK and we look good doin it, it’ll go a long way.

This whole confidence discussion is a chicken or the egg thing, which comes first. With SBIV, he had plenty of confidence but didn’t have the smarts, discipline, decision making, whatever you want to call it. Beck seems to be the opposite. He seems to have those other qualities, just lacks the confidence to put it all together. Maybe he’ll come along like Stet did, gradually but impressively.

Jefferson called nothing, he doesn’t want Beck at QB1. He wants a Georgia native.

This is bullshite from the Eason/Fromm/Fields days where the small minded couldn’t figure out that Fromm was a better QB in our system than his competition.

Fromm was a GA kid that loved UGA which was a plus…but that was amplified as the only reason we like chime rather than his play on the field.
