Loss is squarely on Thorne here. Think we put up 14-17 in the first half with competent QB play.

(1) The RBs played a good game
(2) Oline was better than I thought
(3) Thorne tends to rotate his shoulders when moving up in the pocket. It makes it impossible for him to deliver the ball. Pocket has to be absolutely perfect or he starts shuffling and turning his shoulders / patting the ball
(4) Several critical Thorne errors.
Sailed the ball over Jay Fair
Watched a nickel/safety blitz. Had the checkdown open but instead just stood there looking at the guy until he was sacked. Could have even skipped the ball towards the back
Sailed the ball over Fromm in the seam
Sailed the ball over Jay Fair on a wheel route
High throw to Camden Brown - not really a critical error but you have a 6'3" receiver needing to elevate and stretch his arms out. If that's on the body where he can protect it you may have a catch there. Where it was he had almost no chance to make the play
Took 5 second sack... had multiple guys open including Fairweather on the sideline but patted the ball. Worst case throw it away
Think he had a guy wide open right in front of him on his first down Elway impression but I can't confirm because I don't have the wide
Had a guy open on another sack. Needs to step up shoulders square and throw or get rid of it

The missed wheel route and the DB blitzing and getting a sack while we did nothing about it were the two most frustrating plays.

Wheel route was a walk in TD. The throw wasn’t even close.

I think he had Battie in the flat with blockers out front. They weren't even hiding that blitz.

He missed the linebacker walking to the line, waving, yelling "I'm coming for you"

Seriously though. There were a couple times the linebacker walked right up, Thorne made no adjustments and guy came unblocked while Thorne thought he could hold the ball

I remember thinking "this is way too obvious the guy is going to bail". But nope...

Whatever you do, don’t rewatch that third quarter.

I started to. Safeties were crashing on play action... Auburn had 1x1 on a deep post. Good pass pro. Robby overthrows the receiver by about 15 yards... thought better of it and stopped watching lol

Thorne made a lot of mistakes, but it’s the miscues, lack of communication and poor fundamentals that are killing us on offense right now. Get a drive going, get into the red zone, then there’s a holding, a sack or a turnover that keep us from scoring points. The whole offense is hot garbage right now, but I’m not sure what you can do when the whole team is pretty much brand new. Just have to take our lumps this season, continue to recruit at a high level, and hope that current players improve as they go.

I won't deny we take a lot of drive killing penalties, but when your QBR is 20, your RBs are averaging over 6 ypc, and the receivers don't have a bunch of drops... well.

Also just saw Thorne graded out at 55.7 which was 19/25 for Auburn offensive players...

Crain and Company had a review on Thorne in general and were saying his biggest issue is that he is playing scared and that until he doesn't play scared, best off leaving him on the bench and playing anyone else.

I never heard it but some time in the first half RG3 said Jarsex Hunter was "showing his butt in the secondary."

That comment is under review.

I enjoy his candor but sometimes RG3 get a little TOO excited lol. I forget the play but he said something like. "they weren't ready for the old WHOOOO WHOOOP and the SQWEEEEER".

Thorne played poorly but I’m gonna say if you give up 7 sacks and 15 TFLs you’re gonna lose.

We as fans needs to stop blaming 1 player for losing.

Freeze mentioned a couple times in the interview that guys were open we just didn’t deliver the ball. The pass rush distracted Thorne even when they didn’t get to him he sailed the ball. Freeze also said the ball went to the wrong place several times on runs. Not sure if that’s on the OLine to call pre-snap or on Thorne but overall we’re just a mess on offense with bad qb play miscommunication and penalties

Frazier the TE was wide open you saw correctly.

I just dont like all the bashing of the play calling, the plays were there. You hit half the passes and the whole game is a paradigm shift from what it became.

There were 6 sacks on Thorne and probably 3 of them were unavoidable. If you pat the ball in the face of a blitz with an open checkdown right behind the blitz, that's a QB sack.

I'll admit the pocket wasn't great - the line was getting shoved back for sure but we didn't need to take 6 sacks in that game.

The playcalls were good - guys were open.

Question, do a lot of folks go back and watch losses?
Seems kind of masochistic to me.

I seek joy, not pain, so I don’t get it.

People who really eat and sleep the Xs and Os of football strategy will. Watching a game the second time around when you are emotionally detached because you know the outcome allows you to watch things critically and focus on the reasons things happened.

You could clearly see he was going to be unblocked too

Did he throw the damn ball to the motion man who just ran past? Nope. Just laid down and took the sack
