Sec Nation this morning, he was asked what nick Saban meant to him. His response was along the lines of " he helped me when I hit rock bottom and extremely grateful. I love going against him and you never know how many times you get, this maybe the last time".

Ole Miss might win today, but Lane hasn't done anything as HC to warrant getting the Bama job and hasn't shown to be an elite recruiter. Meanwhile, Dabo gets shite on for his schtick, but at least has 2 national titles on his resume and is a proven top 5 level recruiter.

Dabo would have been a great choice up until a few years ago. His unwillingness to dabble in NIL and the transfer portal will eventually lead to his demise IMHO.

Too early to tell IMO. He has Cade Klubnik looking good and would be the only option in 2030 when Saban retires.

It's not just his aw shucks, just a good ole Christian boy out here wanting to coach football at lil ole Clemson schtick. That's stupid and annoying, but has nothing to do with running a program. His recruiting methods (only offering like 60 kids, no visits if you commit, giving scholarships to the sons of his friends and assistants, etc.) and hostility towards the portal and NIL are just not good bets going forward.

I agree that Dabo's prospects aren't looking great going forward. But Kiffin's career isn't great looking forward or backward.

I don't want Kiffin or Dabo, fwiw. If I had to chose between either, I guess Dabo bc he knows how to actually sustain a program- Kiffin's record is less than stellar when it comes to consistency

Y’all do realize that next year Bama doesn’t play Ole Miss. When Texas and Oklahoma join the SEC next year that annual game between Bama and Ole Miss stops. That is what Lane was referring to. Now was he possibly throwing a dig about “retirement “ maybe but that annual game ends this year and it may be the last time for a minute that they play.
