Boss traveling without “Pre” just beat me to gate by 10 minutes.
ATL should have built the norther arc and should have built a 2nd airport.
Will regret for next 50 years.

ATL Airport authority owns 10K acres somewhere around Dahlonega for a purported second airport. It’ll never be built; HJIA is too big a AA jobs plan to ever be threatened by a second airport.
The City of Atlanta has routinely turned down proposals from private companies offering to pay them 10X plus what they collect in revenue from the airport on an annual basis because they don’t want to give up control of the graft (I mean bidding) of the restaurant concessions.

I thought it was in North Paulding north of Braswell mountain by the Bartow Co. line, been a lotta years tho since I've thought of this. Nothing to back this memory up tho...

Delta is being run by a bunch of woke Millennials and the airport is a huge caldron of grift that anyone who is not grabbing from is afraid to call out.

What, isn't normal to have to give 70% of the take to someone? And remember, you can't raise your menu prices because what if a traveller sees you're offering the same item for 70% less an hour north? They might just leave the terminal and go grab it from you.
I love being the guy to tell the airport to kick rocks whenever they try approaching my in-law's food businesses.

The Northern Arc dismantling essentially did away with 2nd airport plans in our lifetime. It all made too much sense.
fricktards of North Georgia got Barnes unelected then had the entire thing dismantled by Perdue. He even had them sell off most of the sections to make sure it couldn’t happen.
How’s the traffic up there now??
Same dumb asses that refused to put ramps on 316. Instead let developers buy all the access up and here we are 30 years later trying to fix it.

Yes to the Northern Arc
No to 2nd airport. Just use Chattanooga.

Guess you need to leave earlier. I've never had a problem flying out of Hartsfield.

I've never had an issue at Hartsfield.

How long before your flight is it acceptable to leave your house?

Either yall are missing the point or I'm missing the point.
OP has TSA Pre-Check which is the security express lane. His travelling partner did not have TSA pre-check privileges and still got through 10 minutes faster.
OP has a legitimate gripe. He went through all the paperwork and COST and background checks to get through security quicker as a frequent traveler, and his plebian boss still got through faster.
I'd be pissed too. I don't know that I'd make a topic here about it, but I would still be pissed off.

I don't know if it is the airport authority, but the city of atlanta does own the "Dawson Tract" in Dawson county and there's some cool stuff on the land. GPB "outdoors" did a documentary on it.
ETA- here it is on youtube.

That's the land. It was originally purchased to be the second ATL airport.

The graft I'm referring to is the amazing coincidence that EVERY mayor since (and including) Andrew Jackson or a family member of that mayor was granted an airport restaurant concession immediately after leaving office.
Just astounding how that happened...

TSA precheck is still better than Clear. Clear is the biggest scam known to man. Now they have you go to the basement of the airport and it takes forever. On my latest trip, I used the international side and it was a breeze. You can use it even if you are domestic. Security line was zero wait. I'm sure there are certain times during the day where it gets busy, but it's worth a try.

Haven’t tried Pre on international yet. Will have to do that. The “Clear” and other airport generated programs across the country did clog things up more.

Now imagine a limited access road across north Georgia that goes from Buford to Rome and only connects to 75, 400, and 85 plus a couple other main exit points. This was Norther Arc.
Imagine how much truck traffic that would keep off 285.
Northern Arc plus that Airport and you have a real plan for the future. You manage other growth by local ordinance.

you dont even need Pre on the International side. Never seen a wait over 5 mins and most of the time its a wait of 5 people. If you aren't checking a bag upon return, International is the way to go. Also have better accommodations if you have while prior to your flight

Atlanta has never thought big enough to get ahead of the urban sprawl. We don't have a problem with the limited-access Peach Pass lanes for the Northwest Corridor, yet they didn't think ahead to have North-south lanes 24/7. Instead, we have the retarded reversible lanes that add 5 mins to your trip time if you guess wrong or the GDOT cameras aren't working.
