He's still the best coach in college football today. Period.
He's getting old, but he's as mentally sharp as he's ever been. He may not be breaking headsets and having aneurysms on the sideline as often, but he still has fire and intensity. He's still yelling at players in practice. He still has the complete respect of everyone in the building.

The game is just different now with NIL and the transfer portal. It's virtually impossible to be as dominant as we once were, but we're still an incredibly dominant program, and we're still contending for championships every single year regardless of who we lose.

Saban has the mental sharpness and health to coach for at least another 5 years, and I'm going to enjoy every single one of them.

If you don't agree, and want him gone, you can respectfully go frick yourself. You're a moron.

It's not about NIL.

It's about missing on coordinator hiring which has set us back. The wrong coaching hires has hurt our player development as well.

Yeah he's not perfect, and he makes mistakes.

So what?

My money is still on us to win the SEC this season.

We can bitch about his mistakes and misjudgments all we want, but these fans who keep fricking talking about him retiring every single year since 2018, I'm so fricking sick of it. He's here, and we better be damn grateful that we have the greatest coach in college football history walking the sidelines every saturday

Wolford and Roach definitely aren't earning their direct deposits.

My biggest fear is that he won't change anything because of his past success. Many of you don't remember Mike Shula. Mike was not the worst coach, most of his DL's would shame our pitiful guys today, but Mike never thought he was wrong. If every human on earth thought he was wrong It wouldn't make Mike even bat an eye, his plan was the right plan. No amount of conflicting evidence effected him at all. He literally got fired by the AD after it was demanded he hire better coordinators and he refused. Believe it not, I feel like we are having a little bit of that with Saban. Any sane person would have switched QB's in that game. Any Sane person would have tried several personnel changes. Any sane person would have done SOMETHING other than just stare at that abomination from the sideline. I don't think he should be fired, that's ridiculous, he's earned the right to try to fix this, but if I'm the AD I'm going into his office and want to know what the blankety blank he thinks he's doing because if this goes south, the AD is usually going to get the AX as well.

Greg is his boss but I don't know anybody that would walk into Saban's office and ask him what does he think he's doing.

I'm hoping that Saban isn't too stubborn to make the change at QB.

Just today's twitter crowd or the east button generation.

95% never played a F down in their life.

But they understood their limitations.

Sure there are changes in the game with portal NIL whatever. It was all brought about to destroy Saban and the dynasty. Football fans tired/scared seeing Bama become dominant even though we earned our right in the toughest conference to play for a national title? Make a playoff! Want to instantly upgrade your team without following standard ncaa rules? Create the portal where they don’t have to sit out and can play immediately. Want to even the recruiting playing field, asap? Allow players to get paid. That’s why not even the coaches themselves know where to go with everything related to how many teams get into the playoffs, how to control the NIL funds, etc. They rushed all this crap to destroy Bama, and look what it’s done. Saban is in great shape, and could go for however long he probably wanted to, but finebaum said it best today, “there are hanger ons that have worked their way close to or within his inner circle that could not get a job anywhere else but maybe Jacksonville state, and they are dragging everything down”.

I’m waiting on someone to be accountable for the fact that this team is neither mentally or physically prepared for any game , not just a big game the last 3 seasons. Who’s accountable for penalties all over the field, both offense and defense. Who’s accountable for the fact there’s not been a pass rush since 2017?

Why is this same shite tolerated and never corrected? The lack of accountability on this staff is laughable at this point. , yea, yea, a title in 2020.

I’m not saying Saban needs to go but this never gets addressed.

The following is just my opinion. I really think Saban is the GOAT, but not strictly coaching. His number one strength he was the best recruiter ever. Of course knowing who to recruit is part of coaching. Nobody saw how all the pieces fit together that translates into winning better than Saban. He required the players to be accountable on and off the field. He was constantly attentive on all aspects of the program including academics. I do think NIL's and the transfer portal have changed the other aspects of the program that are not directly coaching. Therefore his strengths have been diminished. He has to return more to coaching, which is not his strongest suite. He never did understand the quarterback position until he was forced to change his thinking, and lo and below, he has returned to his initial way of thinking about the quarterback position.

Saban isn’t the same as from years ago. Used to be ran the sidelines screaming yelling throwing stuff and giving assistant coaches chewings etc. Now towards the end of the game (worse when losing) he mostly just stands there arms tucked crossed around his sides with a blank stare. It’s been getting worse for the last 3-4 years. He needs good coaches around him more than ever unfortunately he can’t keep a good assistant more than 2 years. Things are changing so fast with the young folks nowadays I don’t think many of us can or want to keep up with that. I don’t think saban can either and there seems to be growing disconnect between players and coach

Mike also got some absolutely HORRIBLE advice from Ray Perkins. He would call Perkins regularly and Perkins would dispense his "brilliant" advice (extreme sarcasm).

When Shula was told he needed to get new coordinators and assistants, Perkins told him to just play musical chairs with the current staff and that he could get away with that because Bama wouldn't dare fire him. Yeah, that played out well.

We seem to be improved on penalties compared to last year to me. Our overall discipline in general seems improved, too. We're not trying to return every deep kickoff like last year. We're not jumping offsides on offense as much. We didn't get any delay of game penalties, or take the clock down to the last second before the snap. We had too many penalties against Texas, but not nearly as many boneheaded ones as last year (with the exception of Marshall jumping offsides, that was inexcusably dumb).

The decline is real and highly evident by the last three years.

08-13- The make your arse quit years.
14-15- Transition years.
16-20- Rain destruction on your enemies years.
21-23- The decline years.

21- Still win a conference title and make the NCG. Had a terrible loss and had several hard fought wins.

22- Loaded team with the best offensive and defensive players in the country, lost two games and didn't even win the division.

23- An embarrassing home loss to a non conference team that Alabama used to destroy yearly. Three-four loss season.

Saban no longer has the it factor that made him the best coach in the country. It's time to move on. The Dynasty ends with one more loss this year.

It is player development. We are still bringing in the top classes but they are not meeting the expectations for their potential.

When a coaching hire does not pan out it may take 2 to 3 years to correct it.

We are just now getting back to good at the OL and now we have thrown a non-functional QB into the mix.

Struggling at OL and QB is a good way to make everything else look bad.

I think AJ McCarron or even Jake Coker at QB would have people looking at our program like business as usual.

And they had 15 penalties against Texas last year. Is 10 less than 15? They had 2 penalties in the first game against Middle Tennessee. I don't recall a single game last year that Alabama only had two penalties in.
