Here's why:

#1 - Hiring Bobby Petrino as OC
Petrino knows how to score points and he will have more talent at his disposal than he's ever had in his career.
quote:
#2 - Elite Roster
A&M brought in the #1 recruiting class in the country and their roster is littered with talent. They also got rid of 30-some players this offseason via the transfer portal, most of which were backups or role players.
The 2022 recruiting class will be put to the test and I believe their talent will prevail -- especially on the defensive side.
quote:
#3 - QB Conner Weigman
The former 5-star QB played well down the stretch last year -- 8 TDs without an interception.
quote:
#4 - Offensive Line Returns
OL coach Steve Addazio is a legend and I believe in his ability to develop.
All 5 starters are returning, and I've been impressed with C Bryce Foster, RG Layden Robinson, and RT Reuben Fatheree III.

quote:
#5 - Top WR Room in the SEC
Noah Thomas, Evan Stewart and Ainas Smith are incredible.
2 5-star & 2 4-star WR’s committed already for 2024 class. This will be the best room in the country next year.
quote:
#6 - Defense!!![]()
The #1 pass defense in 2022 returns and D-Line is one of the best in the country.
DL Coach Elijah Robinson is the next big thing in coaching (former Nittany Lion).
quote:
#7 - 4 Head Coaches on Staff![]()
Jimbo Fisher, Bobby Petrino, Steve Addazio and DJ Durkin.

BOTTOM LINE: The pieces are there for Texas A&M to make a playoff run this year.

Jimbo will be out of the job before next year starts.

Mel Tucker's team is 2-0. Isn't that good?

And yet, the offense looked the same, and they got a-half-hundy dropped on them.

I predict Jimbo is going to cry in a press conference this year.

Everyone knows it takes until year No. 7 to reallllly see what a coach can do at a program.
He needs time to get his players in, get them out and then get more of them in!
For reference:

Here's a year-by-year breakdown of Jimbo Fisher's buyout at Texas A&M if the Aggies were to fire him in the season:
2023: $76.8 million
2024: $67.55 million
2025: $58.2 million
2026: $48.75 million
2027: $39.2 million
2028: $29.55 million
2029: $19.8 million
2030: $9.95 million

On paper they look good and should succeed. I think their problem is they go after “star power” only. Coaches and players. They throw money at flashy hires and NIL money at high rated flashy recruits.
What happens is they fail to create an identity and culture. They don’t analyze the coaches style, they don’t analyze players for a specific system and their background or personality to see if they fit the culture and team. They just get talent and try to throw it together afterwards
You end up with a bunch of egomaniacs as coaches who want to call the shots and a bunch of players who want to be the star with no clear leadership, culture or vision. You get talented individuals but no team. Theyre trying to buy a championship and that doesn’t work.
Take Leachs teams for example. Leach was the clear man in charge. He ran the air raid. It was his offense and his identity and he recruited specifically for that and players knew it. His QB ran the show. His staff worked to implement his offense.
A&M and Jimbo have no identity. Just a bunch of talent and coordinators that don’t really fit together. That’s their problem

No way. Not anymore. Coaches in P5 conferences get fired by then if no championships, multiple losing seasons, etc.

I think Weigman will be pretty good in Tuscaloosa in 2024.
