People on our side let it slide a bit because we had already beat Oregon so badly.
Yesterday overall was a better performance than we had in those 2 games you mentioned

Exactly.
My point is, we may suck, we may be just as good as last year.
To pretend we know one way or the other after a game against UT-Martin given how we’ve bumbled through games with these rent-a-wins in years past is foolish.
The pudding that the proof will come in has not arrived yet.

Stop being logical and let us bitch about Bobo.

What was the most troubling was our offensive line. Martin really challenged us to pass the ball and tried and was pretty successful at limiting our run game. I feel like our elite talent on the line should have still been able to compensate more for that.
Not a lot of explosiveness at RB, which could be related to the above, but none of the Rbs looked particularly dangerous out there..
Beck has a gun of an arm and nice wheels. His stats were actually good for time played especially. He was definitely not comfortable early, but seemed to get into rhythm better as the game went along. Stet was really good at throwing guys open and I didn’t see that yesterday.
I have had concerns that Beck didn’t see the field as well as a player at the level we need does. He is not there yet, but he progressed in the game. Noted he was comfortable enough to start making 2nd and 3rd reads.
We are going to need a better running game to help the passing game and make it easier on Beck. Hope we can find it.

I would argue that we have now confirmed that our RB situation should be concerning.
Injuries and overall depth.
Otherwise, I'm in agreement. I felt like any problems we saw was self created and fixable. That, as Kirby says, is information that can be used, and no stiff competition in sight.

Agree, lotta passes just off the mark, 1/2 yd behind guys instead of 1/2yd ahead to utilize our speed and athleticism. Hopefully just a timing/adjustment thing that can be rectified...

He has that thinking pause trying not to make a mistake. Stafford used to do it, Stet definitely did it. Just a trust and confidence thing.

I said all game long he looked like he was thinking too much and was scared to make a mistake.

Stet used to do this a lot after a pick.
In some ways it is correct, turnovers are killers. Especially if you have a good defense.
As a backup coming into a game there was no real pressure.
If there was ever a season to start with three easy games and an SEC home opener, this is it.
Time to get some guys healthy and experienced.
By the time we go on the road, some young guys will have 4x games under them.

Carshawn is gonna throw a pick in the next game and we’re all going to lose our collective heads

There's nothing to learn from a game against a team like that. The players know they can go through the motions and still win easily. Human nature says it is hard to get up for a game like that.

I haven’t seen it mentioned and it probably goes without saying but we’re gonna miss Darnell so much in the blocking game. We just don’t have another unicorn body like that.

Delp has put on a lot of good weight.

These guys broke down every questionable play. Beck needs to build confidence because he missed on some passes. He has arm strength and is capable of being a real good QB. He just needs to build confidence. It is concerning he said after the game he was a little nervous......againts UT Martin
He needs to fix that before SEC play.

I was nervous before every game I ever played. Some people use different words for it. I would not read too much into that.

It was his first start since 2019.

At the 15:50 mark in the vid, Lassiter goes helmet to helmet on Tykee Smith. He dove in head first and almost took out Smith. Sheesh

QB is a position where temperament means so much, IMO. I think we will learn very quickly whether or not Beck has that "swagger" needed to be an elite player.
