Why did UF hire Napier?

Up to about 2010 Florida was one of the top 5 programs in all of college football. They can afford to pay a coach. And they exist in a hotbed of recruiting.

From the outside it looks like it would be a highly desirable place to coach, so why isn't Luke Fickell or Dave Aranda or any big name coach coaching the Gators?

To keep LSU from hiring him

Long story short…. Jokes on them in more ways than one. I think they were announced only a couple days apart with Napier first

Because no coach wants to go there knowing they’ll be fired after one bad season.

same reason Bama once hired Mike Debose and Mike Shula, even great programs shart the bed in hiring.

Napier was one of the hottest coaches in the country when he was hired. Lol at UF’s history, take a better look. VERY up and down. Great coaches aren’t easy to come by look at Bama, UTenn, Utexas, Tamu, Auburn, etc

He was thought to be a up and comer, but his offense is very simplistic. They run they same plays ULL ran when he was there.

He was hot at the Sun Belt level. Not major level. Hence why LSU never offered him a meeting. That was his dream job.

because they hired the hunchback and he destroyed the program. They then ended up with Billy

Strick hired the cheap easy guy. It's as simple as that.

Because he coached under Saban once. Only one team has hit a home run using that logic.
