Quinn Ewers 2022 stat line, while playing for a national title winning playcaller and generally with more talent around him than this opponents:

296 pass attempts
172 completions
58.1 completion %
2177 passing yards
7.4 yards per attempt
15 TDs
6 INT
132.56 passer rating

Here's the 11th best QB in the SEC (by passer rating)

Anthony Richardson
327 pass attempts
176 completions
53.8 completion %
2549 pass yards
7.8 yards per attempt
17 TDs
9 INT
130.96 passer rating

Does an Anthony Richardson level passer who can't run a lick sound like a good player?

I'm thinking Texas may want to pump the brakes on their week 2 confidence...

If Ewers had not gotten hurt against Bama last season, the Longhorns win that game. I didn't watch much of Texas later in the season, but he looked good against Alabama.

I agree that he looked good against Alabama

There were also games where his coach was terrified of him throwing the ball in the 4th quarter

Very inconsistent

Agreed. But Bama was really soft on d last year. That game was basically a sorority pillow fight.

He had a good game going vs Bama. Had other games against lesser talented schools later where he did not look good.

I heard he cut his hair, so he must be about to light it up.

He's talented but he looked like he didn't want to be on the field a few times last year. I think his injury vs. Bama affected him mentally for the rest of the season.

That said, he looked great in the bowl game, but our receivers (Worthy) laid an egg.

The Ole Miss DC played such soft coverage that a 7 yr old qb could of moved the ball on us

He was the #1 high school POY & signed with Ohio State, enrolling early. Found himself 3rd string behind Ohio State's studs that year. No way Manning beats him out unless he collapses; red shirt year coming up & the Mannings are supposedly OK with it.

Something got in the kids head last year, as he declined noticeably through the year and had some downright atrocious performances.

His was the reason the Horns lost to Oklahoma State, going 19-49 in the game with three picks.

He was equally as bad against TCU going 17-39 for only 171 yards, no TDs, and a pick.

Maybe he will get the yips out of his head and be more consistent this year.

His footwork and throwing motion is bad and unless those are fixed he’ll remain inconsistent. He regularly throws off his back foot and the throwing motion is just too much from the side.

He looked good against a Pete Golding defense. So did LSU and Tennessee. Which explains Golding's ignominious finish at the Capstone. Fans have to be absolute idiots to believe that this game is going to pick up in the 5th quarter of last season.

And we actually have shorthorn fans over here who believe their DC is scheming for a Bryce Young-led offense.

He's average at best. He looked terrible at the end of the season

But has never had a 10-year season in his entire head coaching career. He’s not a HC. He will be fired in the next 2-3 years and Texas will hire another Tier 2/3 coach since they can’t get a blue chip to put out that dumpster fire

It will be nice for A&M to be able to pass the torch to the 'sips as the most talked about SEC program that has no chance of winning anything in the SEC

How many games are played in a 10 year season? Sounds like a gauntlet.

I know he played good against Bama last year before he got hurt, and I know I can't say anything seeing as how OU got shut out... But I don't think he played great numbers-wise most other games last season. At least not living up to the hype. I personally think he loses the starting job 3/4 through the season.

Ha! You don't understand the Austin hype machine or the average hornfan mentality. Horns have never lost an offseason.
