Verne & Gary were obscenely pulling for bama. No question.

Funny how time clears the air and allows a more objective viewing of things. Imagine being a fan of any other schools but bama or Auburn and tuning in to watch. You'd have sworn these 2 were bama sports broadcasters. It's unconscionable at the bias.
Every good thing bama did was spectacular, amazing, incredible! Yet when Auburn did something... lucky. What was bama thinking? That should never have happened...
Yes, lots of 'what ifs' and 'could haves' were involved. Down 0-24, on the road, biggest game of the season... But having seen other games where MY team was up big and all but assured of a big victory (ATL 28-3) and seeing how the media treated THAT game vs how this game played out, it's undeniable.
There is no such thing as 'objective' game calling on the national level.

frick em. Glad to be done with cbs honestly. While it will make game of the weeks harder to drive home after, I would much rather have night games in September and October than 230 games.

In my opinion,Gary should have apologized after that game was over. Ive never heard such a one sided, "I told you so" from him in that first quarter.
It was sickening. I was totally done with him forever after that first half. Then him trying to jump sides in the second quarter.

I always liked Gary & Verne but yeah it was us against the world in 2010. Everyone was assuming we had disgraced the sanctimonious sport of college football

Eh sorry I just watched that and I don’t see it. Of course they were kinda digging Bama in the first half when we had like 1 one first down. There was nothing to be excited about for auburn. They were obviously excited by our comeback in the second half.
Verne and Gary have always been an example to me of people only hearing what they want to hear. Every SEC fanbase thought they were biased against them. Downvote me to hell Idc

Everyone complains about the announcers 100% of the time. Doesn’t matter if they’re good or bad

The tone in their voices is unmistakable. Excited when bama did something, more muted & resigned when Auburn made a play.

It is true that every fanbase thinks Gary and Verne favor the other team, but is it our fault to be the only fanbase that is right?
I'll give Gary credit for one thing, he quickly and correctly noted the key to the Kick 6 when he said bama had a bunch of fat guys out there. They went heavy to prevent us from blocking the kick and it left a mark.

I have never heard a Bammer say Gary didn’t like them. I am in the thick of them here in the B’ham metro

I've never really had a problem with them. Verne goes way back and he wasn't pulling for anyone. Gary has always been caught up in the 'Bama is invincible' thing at times, but honestly they were on occasion. He was only saying things that the general public at large thought, not what Auburn fans wanted to hear.

I’m glad we’re done with CBS mostly because of the excessive amounts of commercial breaks. When your team was done the CBS game it feels like 10 pm

There is fan base bias, no question. Even after Verne & Gary's dance along in the booth, back in '07, uga fans will STILL claim they're anti uga.

I’ve definitely seen it on message boards. It’s bullshite, of course. But they think it.
Hell, I know a Notre Dame graduate who constantly tells me the media hates ND. I just roll my eyes.
For that matter, I’m a Yankees fan and, I promise you, the national media can’t stand the Yankees. (And you’re probably rolling your eyes at that…but it’s true.)
Point is, every fan of every team thinks the media hates their team. It’s just part of it.
