Other big conferences would follow and leave the NCAA holding their dick in their hands

You don’t necessarily know that. This is one of those deals in which it may not be best to be first.

CFB needs to break away from NCAA. Let them have the other sports but football is too complex for the old system. It would save countless sports that shouldn’t have to play weekday softball games across the country and such.

CFB will eventually break away from the NCAA one way or the other.

As of now the NCAA controls a ton of money, specifically the millions from March Madness. And that involves a lot of contracts. You don't just take the ball & go home.

This may shock you, but the NCAA is made of the member schools.

It's not some third party that rules football from afar.

Try Billions with a B ... and the NCAA is nothing without its member institutions.

NIL and Transfer Portals has basically neutered and de-toothed the NCAA.

I can see why an LSU fan would feel that way.

The leadership and org structure wasn't, which is why they lacked the ability to affect change. The NCAA is different in that regard.

If schools left the NCAA you'd just get the NCAA with a new name.

You didn’t hear? It’s actually a dark, shadowy, cabal intent on destroying our favorite sports while enriching evildoers. The genius is in letting school presidents and athletics directors operate the whole show and somehow still screwing them over.
