Tim Tebow explains biggest regret is game in which Alabama made him cry

He played in two SEC Championship Games. He was part of two national championship teams and won a Heisman Trophy. So, it is hard to imagine there is any regret from his college days.
Yet, during Netflix’s documentary, “Untold: Swamp Things,” the SEC Network analyst revealed his biggest regret was a single game.
Put simply, “It was the day that the Gators died, and Tebow cried.”

Hell of a year for bama that season. Lucked into a no interception call against lsu and Colt gets injured

Colt gets injured

Perhaps most interesting about the game is Florida believes - even today - they were the better team.
“We should have won 2009,” linebacker Ryan Stamper said in the documentary. “Talent for talent, player for player we should not have lost that game.”
Funnily enough, I agree with this. However, it should be self-evident. Florida, talent-wise, had the advantage going into that game. However, they did not have the drive they had possessed the year prior. You could see it in how Florida slept walk in multiple games that season, from the LSU game to the Arkansas game. In hindsight, you definitely could see that arse whooping coming a mile away.

It's time to move on and let it go.

After LSU played both teams, I knew Bama would win.
That 2009 LSU/Florida game was weird. We held Florida to 13, which back then was quite an accomplishment. Their only TD came after a good ole Jordan Jefferson pick. Their passig game was non existant. It was tough for them to sustain drives.
But it was one of those times where Les Miles couldn't figure out the forward pass.
Bama just seemed more well oiled than Florida did.

hot take: UF wins the 06 and 08 titles without tebow. Not with like a spencer pennington downgrade, but even just a relatively serviceable QB.
In 06 chris leak won that title anyway so tebow is barely a factor there.
In 08 tebow got all the press but harvin and the defense won them that title. Not to say tebow didn't help obviously, he did, but there was so much around him that they could've won it with just adequate QB play

BAMA fans saw it coming but Florida did not. Tebow came back for a Senior year and just about every Junior who would have been drafted came back with him. They were going for their 3rd Championship in 4 years. Historical greatness.
Also, Florida never had an undefeated season in their history and Tebow wanted to be the first to accomplish that and he said so before the season. When they got to Atlanta they were undefeated for the first time.
I don't for a second believe that Florida took this Alabama team lightly. It just didn't matter.

You could see it in their eyes at the coin toss. Someone yelled out at Tebow, "im gonna frick you up Tebow!!!"
There was no way Bama was not gonna hand them their arse that night.

I'm not sure I agree. Alabama had two straight #1 classes going into that season.
Tebow got hurt, Harvin was gone. I think Alabama had the talent edge by that point.

Florida has two additional losses against Tennessee and LSU in 2006 without Tebow. What a stupid take.
In 2008 he had a total of 4 turnovers on almost 400 plays. He was phenomenal.

They were undefeated in the regular season in 1995 too.

Losing Mullen hurt a lot. Steve Addazio was a major downgrade at OC.
I think the talent was comparable. Bama was just hungrier and more focused. I also think Bama squeaking by Auburn on a Friday did more to keep their edge and give them a head start in preparation than Florida’s farewell to all their seniors in the Swamp. I think Florida was emotionally spent by the SECCG.

Yes, yes his 2 completions for 9 yards and 1 rush for 0 yards were very intimidating.

Meyer’s promoting Addazio to OC after Mullen left costed us a championship that year. The team was loaded with talent but the offense was super vanilla. There was a meme back then of a wheel with the same 5 offensive plays we’d run. That team should have been blowing out everyone on the schedule, but we were only squeaking by teams. They had zero imagination on offense, it was painful to watch.

We also lost Carlos Dunlap for the SECCG, our best defensive player, due to a suspension from a DUI that happened that week. I knew when that news broke we were going to lose that game.
