Starting to feel good about the upcoming season

Just having a beer and thinking positively . . .
Nice defense (got some good guys in the secondary with a tough-nosed no-nonsense coach), maybe the best returning specialist we’ve ever had on a Saban team (PK, PK holder/P, & PR), a bunch of tough RBs (and decent OL) and being not afraid of pounding the rock more.
Kinda excited.
Then again, the drinking part may be clouding my better judgement

You clearly aren’t a “glass half empty guy”…
No sense worrying we will all know what we have when the clock hits zero against Texas.

Most definitely. As Saban says it’s a process. One game at a time.
We will be getting back to power football but we still need spread concepts to keep defenses honest. I believe Amari Niblack is going to be a weapon. I’m excited about this offense. If Milroe can see the field better and limit his turnovers we may be in for a treat. We’ve never had a qb as dynamic as he is running the ball. We really need him to step up and grow before our eyes.

I am as well. I think we’re going to see a 2012 type offense but with a running QB

I’m just ready to see a defense that looks prepared and makes adjustments

Three things. We are seeing the old Nick again. He’s coming into the media room pissed off. He’s challenging his players.
We have an Alabama team that is focuse, feels like it has something to prove and most likely feels overlooked.
They are getting back to smash mouth.
ATTITUDE!

That’s a pretty bold claim, considering how damn good Hurts was with his legs…

It's not a bold claim at all. Milroe runs a 4.3. Hurts ran a 4.59
Milroe will likely be the fastest player we have on offense

Being good with your legs isn't just about being the fastest guy on the field, it's also about vision and protecting the football. I haven't seen enough of him running to tell if he has good vision but I've seen enough to know he better get better protecting the ball when he's running or his speed won't mean jack.

Guys I think we’re getting carried away here. They are nowhere near the same kind of runner. Milroe is a Lamar Jackson, Michael Vick kind of runner.
Hurts is more of a Tim Tebow/ Dak Prescott type of runner. Those guys aren’t really a threat to break a long one.

Eh I don't think so. This could be a team that has to grow into itself and losing against Texas wouldn't be the end of the season by any means. We have one or two losses but end up with an SEC champ and we're in the playoffs (most likely).

As long as Nick Saban is our coach, I'm not going into a season feeling bad about it.
The infrastructure is in place and the talent is there. It may not end up being a conference or national championship season but I am not betting against it.

I've seen enough of him running to know that if he can make the offense respect the pass then he's going to gash teams with back-breaking long runs.

I am guessing a meltdown over something

And Simpson and Buchner should stay loose.
Exactly. Considering we've got so many other QBs that are basically on the same level as Milroe, why not just run the guy with reckless abandon. Milroe doesn't exactly strike me as the fragile type. He's probably more likely to injure a linebacker than the other way around. Let's frickin run him like he's Derrick Henry

Uh, let's not.

This season is reminding me of when Blake Sims was starting at QB. We all were doubting what the team could be. We had a new OC coach, Blake didn't look good the year before, he had been playing other positions. The season started and Blake came out and set things on fire. So let's all keep that in mind as we start this season with Milroe give him a chance to prove us all wrong. Give this offense a chance to prove us wrong.

Did Alabama win the Natty with him?
Posted on 8/18/23 at 1:10 pm to Deek
They did not.
We had some bad play calling in the OSU game. Henry was absolutely shredding OSU and we went away from it in the second half and Blake didn’t have the precision to beat them.

Yes, we won the 2014 national championship with Sims at QB.
