2007
Only Nutt could screw up that roster to a mediocre season.

2010. We had the roster to be really, really good. Started Big 12 play with dominant wins against Colorado and @ A&M then won our most difficult game on the schedule against then #1 Oklahoma. Had a massive hangover where we just never got off the bus @ Nebraska (I think we were #5 or 6 at that point) which continued into the next week @ Texas Tech. Knocked out the rest of Big 12 play with relative ease but missed the Big 12 champ game on a tie-breaker with Nebraska and ended up in an Insight Bowl game against Iowa that nobody wanted to be at, dropping it in the final minutes. That team could have been special, but just ended up ho-hum in the end.

With all the drama surrounding that season I’m surprised it went as well as it did. Damn shame.

2008 was the one we blew.

2012 Bama was just a shade better.

But had we known how good we were in 2007, we could have been national champs. Great players but very very undisciplined.

ETA: shite, how could I forget. 1981.

I'd say it was 2000 for the MSU Bullies. We had beaten Auburn and Bama at home and were in the lead for the West Division but then dropped a game to a late surging Arkansas team and lost to Ole Miss in Oxford.
The Indy Bowl win over aTm was exciting sure enough but it was small solace for what could have been a second SEC Championship Game appearance in three years.

Was it 2018 when Moorhead had a senior QB and three 1st round draft picks on defense? We lost to UF, UK, and others that year. I hate Moorhead more than Mullen

2018. JoeMo fricked that team up, easily a 10-2 team under Mullen had he stayed

One of the most perplexing (and infuriating) things about being an Auburn fan is the habit they have of totally shitting the bed in seasons they’re predicted to be awesome and then, completely out of the blue, going ham on the college football world in seasons when they’re expected to suck.

Can't argue with you too much. Moorehead was heralded as some offensive genius but seemed to have only 5 basic plays and always tried to punch it up the middle when on the goal line. Nearly every team we played knew what we were going to do. His play calling sucked and he wouldn't take his head out of that stupid chart to watch what was happening on the field!
However it was his complete lack of control over the program that ultimately got him fired, despite being 2-0 against Ole Miss. We had way too many off field incidents involving players and the law, plus fights between players that resulted in injury. He acted like he didn't care, he was just there to coach on gameday.
By the way, did anyone else think he looks a lot like Rex Ryan.

Chad's last season. We were horrible but it was just a trainwreck of epic proportions. Let's review

Sneak by Portland State 20-13.

Ole Miss beats us

Club Dub on full display after the high point in a win over Colorado State.

San Jose State beats us at home

A&M, close one as always. Helped since we were apparently cheating with Starkel's memory of the A&M playbook.

Kentucky brings in a WR to play QB and beats us.

Auburn- The fake punt from hell. Just an absolute arse kicking.

Bama does what they do.

Miss State makes sweet love to us.

Western Kentucky and our former Qb who Chad ran off dropped their sack on our face 45-19. I was actively cheering on WKU. Started Jerry Jones' son at some junture, I can't remember for sure.

LSU hammers us but we showed life with Lunney Jr leading the time after the firing.

Missouri beats us
