What about Georgia State? Kennesaw? Mercer?

All of those are the same as GT...
but they’re not

GT has a very strong history, AAU membership (which means big research $$) and a recognizable brand

They would be a a huge get for the B1G and fit in naturally with at least 5 legit SEC rivals

I’d love to have Tech and Tulane both back in the conference

Tech can come back imo. Tech has just had dog shite coaches.

It is the school.

Not the coaches.

When they lose all of the time, they cling to Nerd status to make themselves feel better (i.e. the B1G approach). That has trained 2 generations of alums that football is only for jock schools. so why try? It is ingrained in their administration. It is ingrained in their faculty. It is ingrained in their student body. It is ingrained in their alumni.

Tech is nothing like Clemson. Nothing like Auburn. Nothing like FSU.

They can have a good football program (as good as the bottom half of the SEC). But they will never be a "football school" until they clean out the administration and faculty.

Correct. There are more Bama/Florida/Auburn fans that live in Atlanta than there are Tech fans. And that's not counting UGA fans.

Georgia Tech expelled themselves in 1963 and WILL NEVER BE ALLOWED BACK IN.
The End.

I understand TV money. Tech doesn't raise that bar, not at all.

So neither does Vanderbilt, but they are a pretty integral part of the conference and having them in Nashville is pretty great right now. And if they hired the right coach and became competitive, the fans would come out of the woodworks to follow them just like what happened to Miami. And there is as much talent in ATL as there is in Miami.

It would be similar to Duke in the SEC if North Carolina went to the Big 10.

Very good point, bigD. I was waiting for a response like this as I paged through the posts.

Personally, I can't stand GT; however, having them back in the SEC would be good for both parties and your point made above is why.

They are a top school for academics and Atlanta is basically the capitol of the South. If we leave them out the Big 10 will gladly snap them up to have some turf in the region. Also was a founding member of the SEC.

Am I wrong here?

Since Birmingham is the capital of the South, why not add the Protective Blazers?

Protective Stadium is the finest new stadium in the United States with a capacity right at 50,000.

It's quite literally only a stone's throw from the SEC headquarters, which is convenient.

The Protective Blazers are very competitive, have a dedicated fan-base of over 5,000 people, and many of their players are soon to be doctors who can help out on the field in case of any injuries.

Georgia Tech and FSUcks would be great additions to the SEC.

Add Clemson and Virgina Tech and the SEC would be set.

Bama has sidewalk/t-shirt fans. Go sit in a public place in GA and count the number of people you see wearing GT stuff. You won't see many.
