Money and Greed have destroyed society.

College football isn’t special or above it.

Yes, and the shitty thing about it is the ones, the Fans, who make college football run, don't get a dime, only the bill.

Yeap. We get to pay for the pro stadiums. So do our taxes go down with all the supposed income it is bringing the area? That would be ‘no’.

How is it being destroyed?

None of you were watching WSU or Oregon State unless it was the last game of the night.

I think it's getting better.

I miss the old days of turning on ABC and not having to worry about which contract was in place, etc.

ABC / CBS / NBC had more games than ESPN and you could get by without cable.

Of course I’ll watch Alabama. But I can see that waning after Saban retires.

But entire Saturday’s being taken up from 8 am to midnight are going to be a thing of the past.

Big programs are building luxurious football buildings, practice facilities, dining halls, etc. You can't have those things without those big network contracts.

Money and greed are fundamental aspects of the human condition.
College football is just adapting to them.

I don't think college football has been ruined to be honest - at least not yet.

I'm still just as excited about the upcoming season as I usually am. As long as the fans are still filling the stadiums across the SEC, I think college football is going to be fun to watch.

I don't think destroying is the word I would use, but money and greed are changing CFB and its dragging every other sport along with it (a topic for another thread, but it sucks). SEC football has already gotten to the point where you need a national championship caliber team to win the conference. With all of the recent changes, more teams across the board will be competing for fewer conference championships, which takes away something that fans like to cheer for. And, as evidenced by the problems the SEC has had trying to sync up schedules, its hard to say what's going to happen to rivalries and games we like to watch every season.

Bottom line, for 50 years, the core of LSU's football schedule has been games with Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Florida and that is going to change. I don't know how it couldn't given the current landscape, but I don't have to like it.

bullshite. Money and greed have been around since man learned how to build a fire. This is not a new phenomenon and it's not a conspiracy against you or your fandom. The only way you pay Brian Kelly's salary, facility upgrades, etc is through big boy TV contracts.

You can't have your cake and eat it too.

Some of us have been seeing this, and predicting it’s demise or drastically looking different than what draws us in as fans.

Most fans want good match-ups and to be able to watch their games on high Def TV. Those are bigger draws to most fans than a historical rivalry. Mizzou hasn't played Kansas, a historical rivalry that involved bloodshed, not just bragging rights. And I'm perfectly good with it and have gotten over it.

What are you talking about? We were lucky to have 3 games televised on a Saturday.
